Just how crazy has the NC GOP become?

Thoroughly bat-shit insane, that's how crazy the NC GOP has become. The latest evidence that what used to be LaRouche-caliber lunatic fringe extremism has now become the GOP mainstream was offered at the NC GOP holiday party hosted by US Rep. Charles Taylor. Ol' Chuck decided that no one exudes the Christmas spirit like the disgraced, indicted wacko Tom DeLay, whom he invited to be the featured speaker.

Former Republican House Majority Leader Tom DeLay called President Obama a Marxist at a large GOP gathering here Friday night and said the country must return religion to government.

It's Decision Time in Texas

My first thought after reading this article in The Washington Post , was that an earthly judgment day, of sorts, is arriving for Tom DeLay. My second thought was that some people in Texas must have awfully thick skulls. Maybe they are just not very bright in DeLay's district, or maybe they just happen to like people who are accused of multiple felonies and under indictment for some of them.

It Gets Worse for DeLay - Off Topic, but Worth It

I realize we are trying to concentrate on local North Carolina politics here, but today's Washington Post article about Tom DeLay and Jack Abramoff is an important piece. It is stunning and should be required reading for anyone in the least bit interested in politics.

Not only does it look like Jack Abramoff is going to sing like a little birdie next week, it looks like he's going to have a lot more to sing about than we first thought.
