Kissell Campaign Events - Find One Near You

There are a few fundraisers coming up for Larry Kissell that I hope you will be able to find time to attend. Robin Hayes is running scared, so we need to keep the pressure on by helping Larry raise lots of money this quarter.

Also, if any other Democratic candidates have fundraising events coming up, please post in the comments and I'll update this post to include your event. I would like for our candidates to get front page attention. Maybe we can do something at the beginning of every month.

Rahm Emanuel Headlines Fundraiser for Larry Kissell

We begged Rep. Rahm Emanuel to help Larry Kissell in his bid for the 8th Congressional District seat in 2006. Now that the dust has settled, Rahm is making his move.

Join Congressman Rahm Emanuel in supporting Larry Kissell in his renewed bid to oust Robin Hayes from congress. The fundraiser will be held this Saturday at NCDP Headquarters in Raleigh from 3:30 - 4:30pm. Tickets are $200 per person or $330 per couple.

Larry Kissell Finds One of His 330 Votes, Robin Hayes Runs Scared

The Larry Kissell team has found one of the 330 votes we were missing in 2006. Not only that, this vote actually takes one away from Robin Hayes. The young lady you see pictured on the left was willing to speak to us on Saturday at the Mecklenburg County Democratic Party convention in Charlotte. She explained that her family had always voted Republican and she followed suit.

Then, she made friends of a different political persuasion and she opened her mind to the things they were saying. It didn't take long for her to become a Kissell convert. Before you hear her testimonial, though, Larry needs your vote. No, not for congress. That comes later. Larry is in the running for DFA Grassroots All-Stars. At last check he was running a close fourth and we need to bump him up into the top three. Please visit DFA and vote for Larry Kissell.

Larry Kissell & Young Dems: Recipe for Success

Saturday March 24, signaled the beginning of the 2008 political season for Larry Kissell. Young Dems, College Dems and Teen Dems of North Carolina were there to help him kick it off. We all know Larry is running again. He put us out of our misery by declaring his intentions immediately after November's elections. He plans to spread the official word about his campaign throughout the district by attending each Democratic convention over the next month to make sure he meets at least 330 new Democrats and re-energizes those who have been with him from the beginning.

I did not have time on Saturday to attend the convention, but regret now that I didn't figure a way to make it happen. Thomas Brock will fill everyone in on the happenings of the day. I was disappointed I missed Ed Cone and Chris Bowers giving a presentation on the internet and political activism which is a session I know I would have enjoyed. As far as I'm concerned, this convention will be a must-attend each year. It was very energizing for the short time I was there to see the young(er) leaders in our party.

Now, for the reception for Larry. One word. Wow.

Don't Forget Young Dems Convention & Kissell Reception Tomorrow

Don't forget the Young Dems convention tomorrow in Greensboro at the Koury Convention Center. It's located just off I-40 at the Sheraton Four Seasons. This is working out to be an excellent event. I'm sorry I will miss the morning session.

Matt Gross is no longer able to attend for what are probably obvious reasons, but Chris Bowers from MyDD will be filling his shoes. Bowers is an excellent addition to the convention in my opinion. I don't always agree with him, but over time have become very impressed with his work.

Twofer: Young Dems Convention & Reception for Larry Kissell on Saturday 3/24

Don't miss two important events this coming Saturday. The Young Democrats of North Carolina will be holding their 2007 Spring Convention in Greensboro with Artur Davis (remember him?) giving the keynote address.

Congressman Brad Miller and Congressman David Price with Larry Kissell

At noon on Saturday there will be a reception fundraiser for Larry Kissell. Tickets are $100 per couple or $50 per person. It will be held in the Kouri Center, so will be convenient for conference attendees. I haven't confirmed if you must pay for the convention if you are just going to attend the Kissell reception, but I will check on this. If you can't attend, but would like to offer Larry early support, please visit his web site or go to Act Blue. This is my current page with Larry's new ActBlue account for '07/'08.

Kissell Earns Clout, Hayes Remains Impotent

This originally ran on May 16 of this year. For those who have my, "The Impotence of One" post memorized, you can skip to the end for the important question. ;)

On May 16th of this year I wrote a piece titled The Impotence of One, about Robin Hayes and his apparent lack of power in Congress based on how little he had accomplished. This was my opening paragraph:

Robin Hayes is learning a tough lesson in Washington. It stinks to belong to the party in power and yet, have none of your own. It must be lonely walking the halls of Congress knowing that you've been used and abused like an inflatable party doll. But that's not stopping Robin Hayes. Not at all.

I was admittedly sarcastic as I described a stunt Hayes pulled to try to get press attention and votes.

Kissell v Hayes, NC-08 - Waiting......Waiting...... (UPDATE)

It was a long cold rainy day and worth every minute of it. There are so many people who have worked so very, very hard for this day. Win or not, this has been an amazing experience and one I will not forget for the rest of my life.

Larry is up in Mecklenburg County and I'm checking the different counties. I'll post some stories from today in a bit. I need to check for some numbers.

9:41

In checking individual counties I can only find Stanly County results which typically goes for Hayes with 70% of the vote. He's at 62% with 24 of 28 precincts reporting.

Mecklenburg is only showing early voting numbers still.

Many of the counties do not have their own web sites, so it's a bit tough to find them all.

Typically, minority and smaller town boxes come in last and those should favor Larry. Don't get discouraged yet.

I'm SO Pissed

Don't tell my mother that I said that. Robin Hayes' new commercial is such at LIE. How could Larry have a record of being for raising taxes when he has never held office before? You see why I am about to pop my cork? Between Flip Floppin' Robin and The Vermin's venom...I think I need a glass of wine.
