Kissell is the Democratic Congressman representing the 8th District of North Carolina

Larry Kissell Leading by 11 in New Greenberg, Quinlan, Rosner Poll

Here's the release. I'm on the GQR press list and didn't get this since it was done for DCCC. I hope Dtrip will release the cross tabs. I'll get whatever else I can to you as soon as I get it.

Robin Hayes has gone extremely nasty. I knew something was up.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee released a new Greenberg, Quinlan, Rosner poll today conducted September 28-29 that shows Larry Kissell leading Representative Robin Hayes by 11 points in the race for North Carolina's 8th congressional District. The initial head to head between Democrat Larry Kissell and Republican Robin Hayes is 54% to 43%. The poll surveyed 400 likely voters and has a 4.9% margin of error.

Former Governor Jim Hunt Rallies for Larry Kissell

Former Governor Jim Hunt campaigned for Larry Kissell in Richmond County at the Rockingham Speedway. According to a friend in attendance, as the crowd of around 300 filled the event area Hunt said he didn't know there was a candidate in North Carolina who could draw a crowd that size.

There's more about the event from the Richmond Daily Journal:

Hunt and Kissell shook hands with supporters and greeted old friends in the Speedway garages before the rally began. Hunt explained why he supports Kissell in his race to the House of Representatives.

Take Action Today! Help Larry Kissell on DCCC Day of Action

Please take just a few minutes to help Larry Kissell win the DCCC contest running today. Larry won last cycle and the DCCC sent out over 3 million fundraising emails for Larry. In 2006 the candidates had a month to plan their day of action. This cycle, they've had under a week. The winner is expected to raise over $100,000 on the fundraising email.

We can do our part and it will barely take any time out of your day.

You have two choices:

1. Go to www.helplarrywin.com and sign up to do virtual phone banking from your home. Spend just 20 minutes making phone calls and your efforts count.

Kissell Triples Cash on Hand, Hayes Doubles Expenditures

Teacher and congressional candidate, Larry Kissell, has narrowed the money gap with Multi-millionaire congressman, Robin Hayes. The gap is still huge, but the great news is Larry Kissell is not only in a better position in the polls at this point this cycle, but he has five times the staff to run his ground game, three times the cash on hand and Robin Hayes has more than doubled his expenditures in order to........run about even with Larry.

Kissell Leads Hayes in Newest 8th District Poll

The most recent poll is out for North Carolina’s 8th Congressional District race and it shows Larry Kissell leading Robin Hayes in a pure unadulterated head-to-head match up. The poll, conducted by Anzalone Liszt, shows Kissell at 45% and Hayes at 43%.

Kissell's National Media Director, Ben Chao, of FRCR, Inc. told a large group of Kissell supporters this morning that when looking at congressional races:

Larry Kissell is the only challenger in America who is leading the incumbent.

Larry Kissell Headlines DCCC Red-to-Blue Candidate List

Somebody get Robin Hayes a change of knickers. I think he just wet himself. What has Robin Hayes flat out running scared?

It isn't what. It's who. It's Larry Kissell, that's who.

Larry Kissell, his campaign team and his enthusiastic supporters from 2006 have finally been joined by the DCCC and many Democrats throughout the district who held back their support last cycle because they didn't think Larry could win. People are scrambling to jump on the Kissell bandwagon and the only thing to say to that is, "Thank you!"

Endorsements Rolling in for Larry Kissell

Larry Kissell has started racking up the endorsements and all those people who wouldn't give Larry a dime last cycle are falling all over themselves to raise money for him. After the constant struggle for attention last cycle, this is almost surreal. Almost.

This is far from a sure thing. Larry Kissell is working harder than ever and it's that fact that should scare the living daylights out of Robin Hayes. He hasn't let up for a minute and Larry is still teaching school, so he's doing all this campaigning after school and on weekends.

SEIU Poll - Kissell Leads Hayes by 2 in UNINFORMED vote

Holy Mother of Pearl. I can barely catch my breath. Those of you who went through the Kissell campaign ups and downs with me last cycle know just how much I love Larry Kissell. Do you remember those days where we did our best to make something positive out of poll numbers? Those days are over. With name recognition of 78% Robin Hayes is polling 2 points below Larry Kissell in the uninformed poll question with only 1% indicating they would vote for a different candidate.

I'll be adding more in a minute with links and crosstabs and all that lovely goodness you need to rip this poll apart, but for now I'm doing a happy dance and enjoying something we only dreamt about last cycle.

More in a minute.

Welcome Back Larry Kissell

Welcome back, Larry Kissell.

Most BlueNC long-timers are Larry Kissell fans. Many of us volunteered to help the Kissell campaign in 2006 and others gave money and vocal public support. We were all pretty much heartbroken when the final vote was counted.

Larry decided quickly he was in for another round. So, here we go. Welcome to my dear friend, Larry Kissell.

Believe it or not it has been almost two years since our first interview with Larry Kissell. Not long ago James offered John Autry, Larry's primary opponent, a live-blog opportunity and now it's Larry's turn. Please join us tomorrow evening, Thursday, January 3, 2008 from 6pm until 7pm for a chance to ask Larry about this cycle's campaign and the issues that are important to the people of the 8th District.

Following our live-blog with Larry we'll immediately jump into an Iowa Caucus open thread discussion, so have your popcorn ready. It's going to be an exciting evening.
