Lt Gov Mark Robinson, Book Banning, and Moms for Liberty

After stirring the pot with his condemned remarks on LGBTQs and spearheading an effort to ban books on LGBTQ and racial history topics in schools and classrooms, Lt Governor Mark Robinson has gone notably silent. While there were rumblings that GOP leaders wanted him to tone things down, the real reason Robinson might have gone incognito in recent weeks is that he has served his purpose in the current national effort by the right to stir up the base.

Many of the specific titles Robinson mentioned during his Fall Faux Outrage Tour 2021 are now being challenged by “concerned parents” around North Carolina and other parts of the country.

But just who are these “concerned parents”?

Arizona-style GOP "audit" clown show coming to NC

You've no doubt read about the bogus "audit" going on in Arizona to "find more votes" for Trump in a state he lost. It's basically performative politics that's really only designed to spread misinformation and mistrust of our election process (and roll in dollars for the unqualified firm conducting the audit).

The Daily Beast (via Raw Story, if you don't subscribe) has a piece this morning on GOP legislators from other states hanging out in Arizona to see how they can organize similar efforts in their own state, including states Trump won.

Freezing Renewable Mandates Doesn't Make Sense

1. There is no guarantee energy costs would be lower without the renewable mandates. Over time, costs go up, not down.

2. Access to renewables has put off the need to build new power plants, thus keeping costs lower than they would be as the costs of new plants are paid for by the consumer. The cost of renewable energy may be higher than the cost of standard energy, but the cost of new power plants is much, much higher than the cost of a solar farm.
Solar energy has created 23,000 jobs in North Carolina. Cut the mandates and lose jobs. And this General Assembly is all about jobs.
