21 North Carolina Young Democrats, College Democrats, and Teen Democrats from Greenville to Franklin attended last week's Young Democrats of America Convention in Louisville. Our diverse delegation included the most Teen Dems of any delegation, and our delegates spent the week learning organizing strategies, techniques, and software that they will bring back to their local Democratic Parties.
The week was full of highlights. Delegation Chair Montica Talmadge seconded YDA President's Rod Snyder's nomination for re-election and did a great job representing YDNC to the nation. An official convention resolution honored outgoing YDA Treasurer Mark Newman for his years of service to YDA and YDNC. Many of our delegates were appointed to serve YDA in official roles.
Even when the convention wasn't in session, your North Carolina YDs were productive. On Friday afternoon, members of the delegation spoke with Senator Hagan about the debt ceiling standoff while simultaneously coordinating an effort to win a DFA Academy training for North Carolina. With your help, we won!
This renowned political training program will come to North Carolina in the first few months of 2012. Thanks to everyone who participated in the contest; details will be released soon.
Sam's Update - Since I sent out this newsletter blast, I've been in contact with the training department at DFA, and I'm happy to report that I'm looking forward to everything a DFA training will bring to NC for 2012.
Thanks again for everyone who made our trip possible! If you still haven't had a chance to support our work, please make your contribution to YDNC today.
