Yearly Kos 2007

I'm here. It wasn't easy navigating the Dan Ryan Freeway during morning rush hour after staying up too late drinking the just-released Chimay Tripel at The Small Bar while watching the Cubs squeak out a victory against the Phillies, but I made it. YK07 is at McCormick Place in sunny Chicago. The convention center is enormous.

Today's schedule is packed. If you have anything you want to know or want me to see/get/do for you, please email me at Here's what I'm planning to attend today:

Creating a Culture of Grassroots Giving
The Agony and Ecstacy of Successful State-Local Blogging
Volunteer Recruitment and Development
NC Bloggers Caucus
Atlantic South Netroots Caucus
MyDD Caucus
Drinking Liberally Happy Hour
Opening Keynote with Senator Dick Durbin and DNC Chairman Howard Dean
Pub Quiz

You can watch for updates here or over at Scrutiny Hooligans. w00t!

Have fun Screwy!

The Second Life thing isn't working. Word is they stayed up all night testing it and it worked fine. Now we're just waiting for it to get fixed. Hope it's fixed in time for the real time interactive events.

me too

Hey, I'm there too! I'm also at the state/local blogging panels in room 10d going on now until 1:30 (central). Will also try to hit the regional caucus and a state/local blogging caucus later. Hope to see some of y'all there.

I thought that was you!

Not just in same room

... it turned out we were at the same table! ;-)

Two great NC Dem bloggers have to go to Chicago to meet. :)

Your tag is open~!

Sounds ethically questionable.

Jesus Swept ticked me off. Too short. I loved the characters and then POOF it was over.

I fixed it.

NC delegation to YKos

great session. Nice to meet everyone.

Fair amount of discussion about who will be running against Dole. No real consensus but lots of interest in working for whoever the candidate will be.

NC posse reprezent!

So, a bunch of us North Carolinians broke off from the "mid-atlantic" caucus and we agreed:

1. We must beat Elizabeth Dole. We will Brad MIller would run but Grier Martin also sounds promising. Here's my fundraising network for her opponent:

2. We need to help Democrats in NC do better (or any) progressive framing instead of running away from their values. The nascent Blueprint NC was mentioned, and I also think it would be cool to bring some folks from the Rockridge Institute and lock some party and elected officials in a room with them.

3. We'd like to stay in touch, perhaps the Carolina Blog Network would be the place?

quietly sitting in awe...

I was in this meeting, too. After I introduced myself to Screwy, who seems to know me from somewhere. I am having a great time since my husband and mother-in-law arrived to take over my son. My dad yesterday involved a pool date with Markos' son and mine, lunch with same, and a nap!

Just want to say the NC bloggers are great and I am proud to be among them!

where's screwy?

I didn't see him today, but the running from meeting room to meeting room thing takes a lot of time! A lot of people partied last night. I went to dinner with relatives realllll early(with kids) and 10 pm found me working out and doing laundry(the coin laundry in the hotel is next to the fitness room and I had to be moving on the treadmill or bike to watch the little tv screen on them!).

Edwards got a lot of enthusiasm today at the Pres. candidates forum. After I went to hear Obama in a "small group" of 500 - and it was good to see how he handles blogger questions.

No one is talking impeachment here, but tee shirts and stickers and buttons are everywhere.

When I get home I will write more about some of the more fact-heavy meetings I attended.

I look forward to reading you

Please do write it up when you get the chance.
