Where is the Democratic Party?

Cross-posted on the Brock Log

As part of my research for articles written on the Onslow County Politics web-log, I've been reviewing financial disclosure reports. I found something really strange, too.

Neither the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) nor the North Carolina Democratic Party (NCDP) nor the Democratic National Committee have donated a single cent to Craig Weber's campaign.

According to OpenSecrets, Mr. Weber has raised just over $30,000 and spent over $29,000. He's received $350 in contributions and contributed the rest himself. He's competing against a corporate-owned incumbent in Congressman Walter B. Jones, Jr. Mr. Jones has received nearly $170,000 in contributions from PACs.

Do the National and State Parties think we're so firmly enchanted by Walter Jones, Jr. that we couldn't be persuaded? Are the Democratic Parties scared of Walter Jones, Jr.? There's no reason for that. Jones, Jr. is weak and can be exposed for that, if there was money to do it.

So, here are my questions: Where is the Democratic Party? Where is the support for NC's 3rd District? Why is the 3rd District being left in the cold by the Democrats?

you arent special

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Mr. Weber is not alone. Not by a long shot.

This type of thing wont be changed anytime soon.

i did

I hit the big button.

Sorry, but I am just too angry about the way they "fund" candidates. How much money are they sitting on right now? What the fuck are they waiting on? If they have over 2 million left in the bank after November 7th I am going to send a nasty letter detailing every race where we lost by under 3%

not just your question

Its not just question of where is the money now. The question is also where was the guidance a year ago? Where was the training and aid?

And he did...

The NC Democratic Party doesn't provide direct financial support to Congressional candidates, in part due to federal campaign finance regulations.

I can't speak for either the DCCC or the DNC. Consequently, you would need to address these questions to them.

mccain

For the real question there you can direct your comments and complaints to Senator John McCain.

PS- dont pass on the nasty things I have said and thought about him. I wouldnt want the police to get the wrong idea.

Excellent points. You can invest in a candidate in more ways than one. My fear is they have given up on the South. November is our chance to prove them wrong.

Vote Democratic! The ass you save may be your own.

Training, Education aren't the only assistance...

How about the best of all? Other Dems coming to the District and campaigning for the challenger.

Of the 13 Districts, 6 are Blue. NC-03 is surrounded by Blue! Districts 1, 7, 2, 4 and 12 are just hours away. Why not load up a tour bus with these CQ-rated "strong Dems" and travel the state to campaign with challengers?

You can't tell me that Kissell and Shuler couldn't use that kind of help. I know that Weber could.

The National party has fallen under the Republican spell; "It's all about money or nothing at all."

BAH!
