Western Regional Leadership Training

Polk County Chair Margaret Johnson leads a session on party building

This past Saturday's leadership training in Morganton set the fuse for explosive growth in Democratic representation from the west.

State Party Chair Jerry Meek, 1st Vice-Chair Dannie Montgomery, and 2nd Vice-Chair Delmas Parker were all in attendance. Dannie Montgomery led a session on recruiting the volunteers needed to support aggressive party building. Jerry Meek presented on fundraising - how to capture the resources needed to support grassroots activity. Polk County Chair Margaret Johnson detailed her party's efforts to use public service projects to create community solidarity and win elections.

With over 75 elected county activists in attendance, this event ensures that the region will have the foundation of know-how needed to increase our gains in the House, elect a decent North Carolinian to the Senate, and secure a Democratic President Western North Carolina can be proud of.

Check out Dannie M.

I'm gonna do a WoW post on her as soon as I have the time to get over to Anson county. Here's just a hint of her fire:

News of the 10th district: See Pat Go Bye Bye,

She is amazing

I cant heap enough praise on her. She is great as 1st vice chair, and she was an absolutely indispensable part of the Kissell campaign last cycle. Most people cant get 40 volunteers to show up and knock on doors for 2 hours. She got 40 people to drive up to an hour and a half all over the district and knock on doors for 5 or 6 hours. That doesnt count the people that knocked on doors "at home".

I missed the first part of her speech at this event, but the end was great. She has a lot of energy, but more importantly she has great points and great ideas about how to not only get volunteers, but to create long lasting grassroots networks.

One point that isnt in the video was the "We take our kids to church. Why dont we take our kids to vote? Why dont we take our kids to Democratic Party meetings?" Thats a paraphrase, with my bad memory, but its just a hint of what she believes in.

She's great. Can I meet her? Please say yes. I like fire - and she's hot!

me too.

I was disappointed that the last few elections haven't had the "Kids Vote" program, which I thought was excellent.

Jesus Swept ticked me off. Too short. I loved the characters and then POOF it was over.

Let me know when you go to Anson!

I will meet you there. (if you want me to)

Why dont we take our kids to Democratic Party meetings?"

That works. I'm living proof. And I've got a guy who is about to turn 18 who is also living proof.
