Well, this is embarrassing

Here we are trying to give away $250 to anyone who can demonstrate that Richard Burr has led something of significance in his 16 years in Congress, and after four long days, we've received only one entry that's even close to a legitimate contribution. Given that nearly 5,000 people check out BlueNC every week, I'm struck by the silence on this question.

What's the problem?

  • Is Burr's record so obviously bankrupt that no one will even entertain trying to defend him?
  • Do people feel like the submissions won't get a fair shake? Note, the plan is to post all submissions in a poll and let anyone (not just registered members) vote on which piece of legislation is most significant.

Help me out here, folks.

Give me until November

and I'll have an entry on how his actions helped us elect a progressive senator ;)

Jake, I don't say this often, but you're wrong

Apparently, Elaine Marshall is already in the Senate, at least according to a NRSC google ad:

Help Defeat Elaine Marshall! For nearly two years, America has suffered from the liberal Democrat’s control of Washington and if Elaine Marshall is sent back to the Senate (emphasis mine), we can only expect more of the same: increased spending and soaring national debt. The only way to stop our country’s backward movement is to defeat the Democrats at the ballot box. The National Republican Senatorial Committee wants to help Richard Burr and all of our GOP Senate candidates win in November, but we need your help to do so. Please consider donating $10, $25, $50 or even $100 to help us fund the efforts necessary to win on November 2. Don't hesitate - donate today to make a difference!

Richard Burr has done so little, not even the GOP knows he's in Washington.

I always wanted to be the avenging cowboy hero—that lone voice in the wilderness, fighting corruption and evil wherever I found it, and standing for freedom, truth and justice. - Bill Hicks

If I were a betting man,

I would bet they (the NRSC) know exactly what they're doing. Repubs in Boise and Birmingham (I'm in a "B" mood) who see that ad will assume she is an incumbent (U.S. Senate) Democrat, and contribute accordingly.

You know, I like your line of thinking.

It paints republicans as either oblivious as to what's really going on or as conniving liars. Well done!!

I actively oppose gerrymandering. Do you?
