Welcome to my Blog

Welcome to my blog. Rather, welcome to my weapon. To quote Manly Hall, "Words are potent weapons for all causes, good or bad."- and through this blog I hope to use my weapons for good and open eyes.

Let me give my background. I'm almost 50 years old and I live in Caldwell County (not giving my full info, I'm a bit of a paranoid kinda gentlemen). I've lived in NC all my life, and I'm a son of a farming family now doing hard work for my own money in my own special ways.

I personally believe that my county needs better representation from both the Democratic side and the whole damn political side. We've seen too much stuff go on here over my 50 years, and I feel I will try to be a rallying point for our fight against what I believe to be some of the worst politicians I've ever seen- be it Bush or otherwise.

So let's get cracking.

Hi there, Thoreau!

Welcome to BlueNC . . . and congratulations on coming out with your first post.

Let's get crackin' indeed!

Welcome, Thoreau!

Happy that you've joined us.

Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

Thoreau and all that rot.

However mean your life is, meet it and live it: do not shun it and call it hard names. Cultivate poverty like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Things do not change, we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts. God will see that you do want society.
--- Henry David Thoreau

Jesus Swept ticked me off. Too short. I loved the characters and then POOF it was over.

You are quite right, I have

You are quite right, I have some shoes to fill assuming the name Thoreau. However, I like to think of it as a form of homage rather than imitation- I doubt I'll reach anything that great in my remaining years, I just hope in my little realm here in the 10th I can make a difference.

welcome thoreau!

I am happily reminded of my years in Massachusetts, where a visit to Walden Pond was a short and lovely drive.

I am a newcomer to NC(originally from Texas) so I appreciate the views of a native here on what the state needs, especially in many rural counties.

I appreciate your welcome!

I appreciate your welcome! I've been to Texas myself, beautiful place.
