Weekend Wound Up: Open Thread

Weekends are when I have to wrap up all the work I didn't finish because I was blogging. Even so, I'm ready for this one. The mental health meltdown has taken a toll on my, ummm, mental health. And the scaredy cats in the General Assembly who won't fund basic services are are really getting annoying. But on the BlueNC front we had a good WoW on Wednesday, a fun live-blogging session yesterday, and good coverage of the great debate.

Happy Fried Day.

Funny stuff

Aren't the tubes amazing?

Jerimee, they think that because they want to

No one with a brain could have watched Colin Powell in front of the UN and not known he was lying. They don't want to know. That's why they watch Fox news.

This weekend I spent four hours listening to the "tax and spend" speeches that we all know are lies. Listening to the architect himself bring up the "towers falling," "worse than pearl harbor" blah blah blah, tying it, albeit obliquely, to Husseing. "We have to get them before they come here and get us." These people want to hear that. They were bored to death. Bored and restless until Rove started talking [in a whisper] "and then it all changed on nine eleven." Then you could hear a pin drop. They wanted the drama. They wanted something to believe in, something to fight, something to be tough and strong about. They don't care that they were lied to. They want to be lied to.

They got their fix to justify killing innocent people and then they went home, sure to be indifferent to the poverty of the children all around them. Because they shouldn't have to give them money to lazy people. And we surely didn't want the fourth largest reserve of oil in the world to go into the hands of madmen who are determined to destroy us. Should I have the tuna fish melt or the chili dog, Mabel?

There are people in every time and every land who want to stop history in its tracks. They fear the future, mistrust the present, and invoke the security of the comfortable past which, in fact, never existed. - Robert F. Kennedy

Thanks for the heads up.

Imitation and flattery and all . . . glad to see they'd doing this. Hope ya'll will get on over there and weigh in.

For example, there's a great post about the Puppetmaster introducing Rudy. I can't seem to get this image out of my mind.

The right laws?

Rudy claims the right laws were in place. I guess he hasnt bothered to read about the laws not being written correctly, and that yes, the law was followed.

this wasnt an enforcement issue at all. it was the fact that state laws and federal laws allowed for huge loopholes because they didnt mesh properly.

Guess that means we need to put

Durn if I know

I'm following the George Bush model . . . it doesn't matter if it works, just as long as it's easy.
