Weekend Wound Up

What a day!

It looks like the original author deleted his/her post about Blackwater and Womble Carlyle. It's probably just as well given how heated things were getting. But just to be clear, I didn't do it.

OMG. Maybe we were hacked!

Joke

BTW, we weren't hacked. That was a joke.

I missed

I missed the ensuing discussion, but I hope it was deleted once the person realized the absurdity of the post.

Well I was wondering . . .

and getting that old familiar "uh oh, was it something I said?" feeling . . .

Dearest Brunette

I always value what you say and I love that you're here. You're someone I feel completely at ease with in fun or in fury, and I hope you feel likewise. I know we're on the same team.

Blogging is such an unpredictable space. Sometimes ideas stick and build, some get shot down early. Taking the Wonble path in attempting to drain Blackwater may not prove productive, but you never know. I'll push it until it's clear one way or the other.

Vive la difference!

awwwwwwwwww

Backatcha, Anglico. I feel the same way.

See, I think the original post-er guy took it down because his point was so utterly demolished . . . .

I just looked up the Womble Carlyle lobbyist for Blackwater. I know him and am always glad to run into him. Notwithstanding his acquaintance with me, he's got an awfully good reputation.

The funniest part

Was when a staffer fixed the mistake and they claimed the hacker had come back in and fixed the hack. Even Cheney would have been embarassed to use that excuse.

"Keep the Faith"

"Keep the Faith"

I started feeling bad for the staffer

I hate it when I start feeling sorry for the opposition! But dang, she sure took some hits.

I think the multiple staffers involved weren't communicating with each other as efficiently as Dome was communicating with either, and that one of 'em got left out of the latest loop, so stuck with the original story instead of going with the more sensible version that the "inexperienced" staffer offered. Just a theory.

Faking a hack to cover up your ineptitude.

Why does that ring a bell?

Lieberman's campaign website went down today. Lieberman's campaign staff immediately accused Lamont's campaign of hacking their website, and said it is going to file a complaint with the U.S. Attorney's Office and with the Connecticut Attorney General. But as the Wonkette shows, what really appears to have happened was that Lieberman and his $12 million campaign hired a web consultant who then hosted the Lieberman campaign's website on a $15-a-month discount server, which - not surprisingly during a high traffic time like an election - shit the bed and died under stress. Put another way, it appears Lieberman's campaign simply made a poor decision, and now facing the consequences of that poor decision, its trying to blame the whole thing on its opponent.

Ding!

Two Replicants campaigns. Two staffers who instinctively lie in the face of a screw-up. Gotta love them ethical fambly-values.

Help Larry Kissell!

If you haven't already done so, please go to DFA and vote!
Democracy For America (DFA) is running their "Grassroots All-star" endorsement vote.

The DFA Grassroots All-Star isn't your typical endorsement.

The winner earns the financial support of a 675,000 nationwide membership, hundreds of volunteer hours by local members on the ground, and the media buzz generated by the national spotlight. Perhaps the biggest prize of all, the DFA Training Academy will train DFA members and campaign staff in the winner's district making sure everyone learns the skills to win.
Please vote for Larry Kissell by clicking on the link below. You can vote for up to 3 candidates, but you don't have to. You might also want to vote for Roy carter and Harry Taylor, the other NC candidates. You can vote once with every e-mail address you have.

Larry's only 150 votes from 1st place. Thank you!

support ALL NC candidates

You should support all of our candidates, none of them should be an afterthought.

"jump in where you can and hang on"
Briscoe Darling to Sheriff Andy

Yes...but now there are four NC candidates on the list

People are now faced with a choice. Roy Carter is in #1 spot and Kissell is #3. I don't know where Harry Taylor is, but folks should work to move Kissell, Taylor and now Adame up the list.

My instinct is to support Adame first

to show Blackwater that North Carolinians can't be intimidated by their games. Adame will stand up for us, the way he's stood up for our country time and time again.

Yes, you've got to make a choice when you go to DFA, but I had to check Marshall Adame's name first.

At this point, we should be learning as much as we can

about all of the candidates who are running in NC. I could be wrong, but this seems to be a HUGE primary year. I know in District 6 this is the first primary we'll have in a long long time, with Jay Ovitorre and Johnny Carter, and in the 5th, the 8th, 9th, and 10th, there are primaries as well.

I think it's wonderful that there is early support for candidates at BlueNC - we all have our favorites. Personally, I'd like to know more about the "other" candidates - and find out who is the more progressive of the Dems running in those primaries. Maybe folks from those Districts can let us know. ::pokes TrueMeckDem with a stick::

Kudos to Betsy

Again.

The site went down for a couple of hours tonight. I don't know what she did, but now it's back and we're all happy again!

Thanks, Betsy.

The EASY Button

I highly recommend that everyone own one.

Why I Deleted the Post

I tried this earlier, but was crashed (either the site or my browser).

There were two reasons I delted the thread.

First, I meant to state my opinion on the matter and get other opinions, not only as to whether it makes a difference in voter preference, but also whether it should be an issue at all. As I feared, it came off instead as a hit-piece and stirred up more aggravation than discussion.

Second, and more importantly, because I support and volunteer for Besse, some people thought that I was posting on behalf of the Besse campaign- which I most certainly was not. It was my opinion/topic alone (and no, nobody in the Besse camp told me to say this either- just responding to some emails I received).

Finally, I do not agree that the post was "absurd," and I definitely did not delete it because my "point was utterly demolished." Those who know me know that I appreciate dissent. What I dish out I deserve to take in kind.

I do not make a decision to delete a post that folks have taken the time to discuss lightly. While I agree with the post as intended, things deviated from my original purpose.

While I agree that as a politician the company you surround yourself with is a topic for discussion, I never meant to say that Dellinger personally supports Blackwater, or Giuliani, or Michael Dell. I was merely attempting to discuss whether or not it should be an issue, and for ME, it is.

So this is my mea culpa. Next time, I will choose my words more wisely.

I don't know you all that well

But from the work you did last year(cycle?) and our few exchanges I would never, ever believe for a minute that you would post something to do the campaign's dirty work. What I know of Dan and from my very brief interview with him last year (Thanks, Dan) I believe that if Dan had something to say, he would say it. If it was negative, he'd find a classy way to say it. He would never ask someone to do his dirty work.

I understand your position. I don't agree with you on the guilt by association in this case, but I do understand where you're coming from.
