Weekend Wound Up

Got news? This is the place to post it. Like for example, this news about Nifong finally giving up the ghost in the Duke LAX case. From the front page of the New York Times, no less.

The district attorney has asked the state attorney general to take over prosecution of the sexual offense and kidnapping case against three Duke University lacrosse players, an official involved in the case said today.

What's up with you?

Its the start of a new semester, and that means the last minute rush to finish outside books before they dissapear for 4 months.

I finished Sherrod Brown's book on Free Trade a few weeks ago. Highly Reccomended. Just finished "Turning Point" by Jimmy Carter about his first campaign. Pretty interesting stuff.

Recovering from free slices of pizza

I got from my local "convenience" store. (Up here it's the only store so it sells everything, including motorcycle leather and all kinds of hunting and fishing gear).

Note to self: refuse offers of free pizza, particularly when it's free because it's about to be thrown out.

Been there done that. Not fun.

Hope you feel better.

It HAS to be photoshopped. Oh now, my husband is saying it's possible and he's the animal man.

Not Photoshopped

It was one of 11 photos I got from my father in law, taken by Tanja Askani of Alberta, Canada.

I'm finally taking boxes to storeage

I am only able to check in periodically today, but I think the beautiful weather, football and Tarheel basketball will be enough of a draw that my absense will not be noted.

Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

Vote Democratic! The ass you save may be your own.

Roy Cooper takes over Duke case

This story has been on the front page of the NY Times three days running. Weird. Anyway, here's the latest development:

North Carolina’s attorney general said Saturday that his office would immediately assume full control of the Duke lacrosse sexual assault case referred to him on Friday by Michael B. Nifong, the Durham County district attorney.
