How do you walk back into a room full of friends and acquaintances after you've stomped out and slammed the door?
You do so with a sheepish look on your face, apologize for the mess, and then you explain.
It's a hard life, and a hard balance for me. I live and work in a very conservative field, in a pretty conservative area. As you can imagine, a pagan, bi-sexual woman married (legally) to a transgendered woman has a difficult line to walk. Imagine the walk Grace has - it's even worse. We don't hide who we are; but we don't advertise it. (Only now I'm typing it again for everyone to see. I must be an idiot.)
Before anyone can go any further, I acknowledge that my re-posting of Pam's questions on Hagan's thank you thread was not the best idea. and that's all I have to say about it.
Virtual space is about the only place that I can be totally myself. And what you saw yesterday was a part of myself that I don't like very much, but I acknowledge and own.
I am a door-slammer. I was so hurt and angry (rightly or wrongly doesn't matter at this point.) that the only thing I knew to do was to virtually slam the door and cut the ties.
But I don't want to do that. This is the most vibrant, intelligent group of people I have run into in a long time. I couldn't even stay away a day. I wanted to see what Robert was writing about Health Care. I wanted to see if anyone had anything to say about the budget process starting in the short session. I wanted to see what the heck is up with North Carolina's Community Colleges and my hero Roy Cooper who must have a good reason (I hope he's got a good reason.)
So, I'm tiptoeing back in, sitting here in the corner. I'll just be quiet and read for a while.
Except, you know, there are some important budget items I want to keep an eye on, and I will bring updates to you on those.
As in everything - Peace, my friends, peace.

I am not sure what went down
I saw the comment about leaving- and came back tonight to send you an email. Instead- I am reading your post and commenting.
Speaking truth to power is never easy- I am guessing you did that- and may have taken some heat- and also, it sounds like 'got your feelings hurt'. I am sorry you experienced that - but it was an experience and the way you are handling it now should be commended. I really like the title of the post, I myself have slammed a few doors- and like you- returned. Kudos to you and your passion. Thank you for all of the kind words you have offered me.
Thanks, darlmc
I'm glad to see you sticking around here, too.
As I'm sure you know, feelings run high around campaign time. I'll do my best not to slam doors here, and just let my feelings known. In an appropriate place, of course.
Now I'm going to go get a foot massage. :-D

Let me offer this answer from the Tao of Pooh ...
Here's your question:
While Eyeore frets ...
... And Piglet hesitates ...
... And Rabbit calculates ...
... And Owl pontificates ...
... Pooh just is.

I love that book
I wonder whether Dorothy Parker would have responded better to the Tao of Pooh than she did the original works of A. A. Milne?
Glad you're back.

Whew. Don't scare me like that.
That reminds me of that time a State Patrolman pulled me over and there was a pack of rolling papers stuck to my driver's license. ;o
Wow. I can't believe I wrote that. I hope my mom isn't reading this...
I didn't think you scared that easily.
Are you going to the 6th district convention in Asheboro on Sat.?

I was thinking about it,
but I don't want to be the only non-delegate attending. Would I be? (wood eye bee) :)

You belong here Linda.

I'd walk in wearing red with sequins
Like Rhett made Scarlett wear when he thought she was a-misbehavin' with Ashley, but really it was just a crazy moment and she loved Rhett the whole time.
I want a good excuse to wear that dress before there's no point in it anymore.
My mom has a dress
At nearly 80, she's entitled. She calls it her "go-to-hell-red-dress". She looks fabulous in it. I, on the other hand, don't wear red to well. I look much better in blue.

Silly Linda.
Brunette gets in enough trouble to overshadow any of your shenanigans! Just kidding. I'm glad you're back, even if I'm in the process of deciding to stay in the states until Obama becomes our Pres. and then ship the fuck out.
Keep makin' noise, sister.
Stay through November.
It will be historic.

Linda,
I'm way too new here and appreciative of your warm welcome to wanna see you go.
You gotta at least wait until I've actually moved to the state! (3 weeks now...)
