URGENT - Kucinich delivering impeachment articles NOW!

Dear friends:

A few moments ago, (approximately 7:30 p.m. EDT), Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich
took to the floor of the House of Representatives to present 35 Articles of
Impeachment against George W. Bush. The House session is being televised live on

I seriously adore Dennis Kucinich.

I love these little random reminders from Reps. Kucinich and Wexler that our current President is, in fact, a criminal.

He is on number 11....

Go Dennis Go!!

Silence is Betrayal...an Edwards Democrat.

Silence is Betrayal

He kept on reading.

I had C-Span on until I finally went to sleep.

What is the next step, now that he has filed them?

Love hearing this..

"President George W. Bush, by such conduct, is guilty of an impeachable offense warranting removal from office"

Pelosi says they won't do anything with it because it would be divisive and unsuccessful.

I was so proud of Kucinich.

Watching him read the articles - to a basically empty room, I had to admire his determination. If one man can tell the truth, then two men can, and so on.

As Grace has stated, the Democratic leadership...

feels that it would be unsuccessful, and I would agree that they wouldn't get the necessary vote for conviction in the Senate. But history will show that Bush & Co will have successfully completed eight years of an administration having launched a war based on lies, causing thousands of unnecessary deaths, allowing torture to be recognized as one of 'our' tools in time of conflict, etc. All this for the sake of political gain, or so they think. Kucinich never had that 'star quality' to get a presidential nomination, but he is probably our most 'progressive' Democrat, and now proves he has a 'spine', compared to the other bunch of bullshitters holding the Democratic leadership.

Waste of time

More power to Kucinich but I have the opinion that the Congress has much more important things to do than tilt at the impeachment windmill.

Congress ground to a halt during the Clinton trial, I would prefer them to be working on the energy crisis, foreclosure mess, and economic issues.

"jump in where you can and hang on"
Briscoe Darling to Sheriff Andy

Tilting at windmills indeed.

I'm as concerned as you are about the energy crisis, foreclosure mess, and economic issues. I am also concerned about the multiple laws that appear to have been willfully broken by this administration.

By not doing something - a censure, an impeachment, something, Congress sends a message down the ages that while it's inappropriate to get a blowjob from an intern, it's okay to spy on your own citizens, funnel money and contracts to your friends, and deliberately lie your country into war.

So what happens if the unthinkable (to me) happens and the next administration is the McCain administration? The message is clear. Do what you want, lie to the American people, piss on the Constitution.

As a matter of fact, as I think about it now, I think that the immoral and possibly illegal behavior of this administration has led directly to the crises you and I and all of us are concerned about. We can't let precendent be set that it's ok for a President and his administration to behave this way.

I realize it won't happen. It's an election year, for god's sake. They're not going to do anything now. But they ought to slam it into high gear on Nov. 5

Congress is already ground to a halt effectively

by the obstruction tactics of the Republicans in the Senate and the veto power of the boy king.

Apparently Pelosi and Reid agree with you that this is tilting at windmills but I say there is so much more at stake. Are you willing to let W provoke Iran into WWIII? Will people called before Congress "just say no" since no one has suffered by thumbing their noses when subpoenaed?

Congress has lost so much respect as an equal body, it should now be the protectors of our Constitution even if they can do nothing else.

Progressive Democrats of North Carolina

Too much at stake for it to go away.

If Congress does not send a message now that the behavior of this Administration is unacceptable, they are opening us up to the hell of more Royal Administrations, and the rights supposedly preserved in the Constitution will disappear. For good.
