Make no mistake, this is a pivotal week for UNC. The Board of Trustees could respect the integrity & judgment of the faculty & administration, or it could let politics rule. Choosing the latter would be damning to an already damaged reputation.

As I commented elsewhere, this should be a no-brainer. The UNC BOG coughed up $2.5 million to a handful of Confederate nutters to "settle" a lawsuit that had not even been filed yet. Making this right won't cost the Trustees a dime.
Kind of undermines some of his more recent remarks on objectivity. #ncpol https://t.co/OuzSpSBDov

This is a big mess, frankly. This dude has direct control over a $25 million annual "gift" to UNC, and yet he apparently does not understand the concept of "undue influence," nor does he grasp how his own actions are eroding the integrity of the very school that bears his name. Now tell us more about this "good journalism" thing, Walter...
- Interesting to see Hussman, a journalist, grumbling that he considered his communications with leaders of our public university to be PRIVATE.
Hussman needs to go back to school. 3/3#ncpol— Bruce Siceloff (@BruceSiceloff) May 30, 2021
Yeah, that's so rich it makes my teeth hurt. How many FOIAs has Walter submitted, how many times has he whined about government dodging transparency? Look in a mirror, pal.
49% of Wake County is vaccinated. Herd immunity is estimated to be around 60-70%. Consider this information when deciding whether to wear a mask at indoor public locations. Thank the spineless @NC_Governor for the decision to fully open #ncpol #ralpolhttps://t.co/UPkRLfXEio

See, this is why I can't abide some Socialist proponents out there. If Maskless Dan Forest had won, we'd probably be at about 20% vaccinated, and that's if he even allowed vaccines to be distributed. Come on.
“Trickle down economics” is a proven failure.
We need to invest in public education and our state’s crumbling infrastructure. We can’t do that if Republicans continue to give away even more money to corporations and the wealthy. #ncpolhttps://t.co/GBWcK6cF0S— Senator Wiley Nickel (@wileynickel) May 30, 2021
They've been doing it literally every year since they took control, and the only way to stop them is to put them back in the minority where they belong.

That looks enough like Tillis to trigger my gag reflex...
Giving Public Tax $ to Corporations (many Religious entities), is FASCISM.
The solution: Long tried, tested, & true. Schools serve the community where children live, & parents are involved in every step. THIS is when Public Schools in America were the best in the world.#ncpol https://t.co/Ge8xdzrBoJ— Scott Satalino (@editor_pmrt) May 31, 2021
But...if the schools fail to indoctrinate...you know what? Trying to figure out what these pro-choice people are getting at with their rhetoric is a lost cause, so I'ma give up on that.

John has been bringing the heat ever since the GOP scuttled PED. And justifiably so.

The very first thing that popped into my head was: did they not have insurance on this business? And if they did, is the insurance company trying to weasel out of covering the damage? Can't find that information anywhere, but hopefully they will be able to rebuild and get back to business. Speaking of fires:
In one documented instance, a @pffd668 firefighter said an incorrect address caused a 20-minute delay. In another, a firefighter said a call routed through Raleigh came without an apartment number, delaying response around 10 minutes. #ncga #ncpol

Those are both stressful jobs, and woefully underpaid. Durham needs to fix this ASAP.
