Ahhh, Stupak and fellow Dems and Republicans want to force women using the public option to buy a supplemental plan to cover abortions even though the Capps Amendment preserves/protects the Hyde language which basically says no federal dollars will be used to pay for abortions.
Rep. Capps said current federal language is maintained. Calls this a devastating amendment.
At some point I thought they would vote for this, but I think they are waiting until after the debate on the Republican's crappy substitute.
Update
This sucks. However, this is how they got enough votes to pass the healthcare bill. They sold out women. Nice.

Dems sell out women to get Blue Dog votes
Feels good, doesn't it?

Vote Democratic! The ass you save may be your own.
I would be willing to bet Blue Dog
Heath Shuler still doesn't vote for it.
You're probably right!
I'm going to admit right here that I'm so angry about this that I'm probably not going to have too many nice things to say about anything tonight.
I know there is still the conference committee and we still don't know what will come out of the senate, but this is infuriating....and now I have to listen to Cantor blathering on.

Yeah, well, there is that Mad before Anne.
I might feel better about it later. Going to get a glass of wine, get in bed, and watch the final vote.
Somethimes it is like we haven't made any progress at all.
Abortion is LEGAL.
Yeah...wine...I think I'll do the same
I have a nice red that I opened last night. We'll have to push to have the amendment removed in conference.
Enjoy the final vote.

Etheridge, McIntyre and Shuler voted yes
to limit women's health coverage

Shuler, like Kay never pretended to be progressive
We Democrates determined they could be elected, and for that reason, we got behind them.
Neither of them ever pretended to be progressive, or even remotely Liberal.
The House bill passed providing health care to America. That was at least a significant step forward.
Tomarrow is a new day....The struggle to keep America free of suffering and war continues.

Hi Marshall, good to see you
You're right of course but Democrats who voted with Republicans last night might as well BE Republicans for all they're worth. Which side of history would you be on if you were on the Hill last night?
I would have been a YES to Health Care for all vote....
Of course!!!
