Hahaha!

The anti-blog. That means you might have to actually write one. mwuahahaha.

I agree

I try to vote issues, but will not under any circumstances vote for any Republican until the party platform gets a drastic overhaul.

If the choice is between a meathead (of any party) or nobody, I'll skip that line until they add the choice "This available candidate(s) sucks, please start the election cycle for this office over immediately".

Of course I'm crazy, I'm a blogger. What's your excuse?

I was also thinking

that it might encourage someone else to run the following election.

"Hey, if that big-mouthed atheist porn guy can run..."

If you have someone

with a mild form of viability, someone should run in that district.

With just mild form of viability, the incumbent must defend his seat. Which means he is staying in his district and not working for another. His people must work to protect him and not support another. The money he would raise to protect his seat can still be raised, but to help someone else.

This would only work if the person running is not a whacko. They must be able to form some form of opposition and be able to pull most of the county party toward them.

Also, work them today and in 4 years, work them again, in 4 years, you will have some base name recognition. You need that regardless. So even if ur going to lose, at least your showing organization and someone to rally to 4 years from now.

Just my two cents.

Define "Whacko"

as opposed to "un-viable".

Apparently, we don't have anyone "mildly viable" who's willing to stand. That's the point. That's why there's no opposition. It could be argued that just not having an "R" after the name here makes a candidate un-viable.

Attitudes of ignoring the further left side of the party while the Republicans actively pander the extreme right wing of theirs are exactly the reason the Overton Window is so insanely far to the right in this country as a whole and especially in Onslow County in particular.

In Moore County

The perception is the same thing. But we have a new candidate this year, ready to take on Joe "Uncle Creepy" Boylan. Her name is Betty Mangum, a transplant from Wake County - and instead of switching her affiliation from (D) to (U) in order to win, she is ready to take back the good name of the Democratic Party.

Anyone from Wake know her?

today, their is noone in a county to run up against

the GOP. Because noone stood up today (yesterday) to fight them there is not a figure head for Dems to look to in 4 years. Even if he gets beat, so long as he does not embarrass himself or the party, he will have generated a base of followers.

For the next 4 years, he can be "campaigning" against the incumbent in preparation for the next election. He can be insightfully commenting on the pros and cons of the decisions being made by his intended target. He can be swaying folks to his banner for 4 years. That is what the incumbent is doing, swaying folks to his banner with the full force of the seat he is setting in.

Right now, and for the next 4 years, NO ONE has staked a flag in the ground and said "Dems, rally to me! we can beat these guys". It will now be 4 years before you can get your name really working against the GOP. Those counties that did not put up any candidates are 4 to 8 years behind in making that seat blue. Only if the incumbant turns into a wacko for the GOP will your 4 to 8 year plan be reduced.

As far as wacko goes, if hes a DINO doing silly things that support the GOP ideas or make dems looks foolish, then he is a wacko. If his integrity is suspect, he is a wacko as he will hurt the party and the over all mission of turning that seat blue.

so even losing an election has a silver lining. you are giving people an option. a reason to go to the polls. a reason to get involved. a reason to care about politics.

Seems like

there may be more crazies around than I thought. Maybe I've shortchanged my future chances of running for office. I could be a Commissioner! A Senator! The President!

Ok, maybe not, but it was a good run there for a second or two.

I should send out a survey with my picture on it that says, "Is there any chance at all that you might show up to the polls in 2012 drunk enough to vote for this guy for any office? If so, please specify."

:)

In all seriousness, we've got to do something about Republicans running unopposed. There's a County Commissioner's meeting here Monday night. I think I'll go see what's going on.

Of course I'm crazy, I'm a blogger. What's your excuse?

You are exactly right!

Especially the part about "again in 4 years, and again in 4 years" - or in many cases, it might be "again in 2 years, etc."

Great insight, parmea.

Very nice Jerimee

concerning the links. Nice to be able to just click on that link to read up on my State Senator. Ed Jones. Will be great to vote for him! He was appointed to the position but is doing a great job.

Had a few sit downs as well as other meetings with him. He conveyed to me that he cares about the people of his district.
