I just was a guest on Mike Feder's show SIRIUS Satellite Radio show and learned something deeply, deeply offensive.

The liberal channel is called "SIRIUS Left."

The conservative channel is called "SIRIUS Patriot."

SIRIUS Satellite Radio doesn't think you're patriotic. This is an obscenity.

SIRIUS's media relations representative for talk radio is Hillary Schupf. Her email is hschupf@siriusradio.com. Her phone number is 212-901-6739. Let's start with her. Share what she says in the comments. This cannot be allowed to stand.

What idiot came up with Sirius Patriot vs. Sirius Left? I’ve seen plenty of bone-headed stuff in my 30 years in PR, but this pretty much takes the cake. You just dug yourself a million dollar hole by trying to be cute. No wonder no one listens to your pathetic service.

Might be in a minority here, but I think it's a good title. I am first and foremost a leftist. I don't get into patriotism and all of its symbolism too much. I'm part of the American social contract, and have been since birth, but I could just as easily leave it and join another one.

No disrespect to anybody, especially those who have fought to preserve this social contract, but I don't give a shit about patriotism.

I *like* being called a leftist.

I am a left wing liberal. I don't like the connotations that the wingnuts have associated with "patriot" over the last 6 years. It brings to mind the out-of-control nationalism that leads to people being willing to give up the rights granted them by the constitution. Maybe it is just framing, and maybe there does need to be a campaign to take back the word "patriot", but I'm not up for that.

As someone who tries to listen to Sirius Left fairly frequently, I'd have to say, they need to get some people who don't just get on there and talk about their personal lives. I hear VERY LITTLE actual content that isn't trivial or just the left version of Limbaugh. Or a cheap imitation of John Stewart... And I've noticed on the weekends sometimes they just re-broadcast some of the same pointless drivel.

I think the content is fairly good. . .

Bill Press is decent, and Bennett can be quite entertaining.

I like Thom Hartman a lot, but he's kind of a wonk. The big star, for me, is Ed Schultz.

The horrible NY accent? I used to listen to her just for laughs. I like Hartman and Schultz both. My favorite Leftie broadcast, though, is still Morning Sedition. I don't know if it's still on or not. I used to listen to the stream via the computer.
