President Obama smacks Health Insurance Industry

President Obama in no uncertain terms called out the insurance industry for the deceptive and dishonest hacks that they are today. It is a thing of beauty.

President Obama mounted a frontal assault on the insurance industry on Saturday, accusing it of airing “deceptive and dishonest ads” to derail his health care legislation and threatening to strip the industry of its longstanding exemption from federal anti-trust laws.

That is only the beginning of the hurt the President layed on insurance companies and their lobbyists. IT IS ON, people, and President Obama isn't beating around the bush in his smackdown of these leeches!

In unusually harsh terms, Mr. Obama cast insurance companies as obstacles to change interested only in preserving their own “profits and bonuses” and willing to “bend the truth or break it” to stop his drive to remake the nation’s health care system. The president used his weekly radio and Internet address to push back against industry assertions that legislation will drive up premiums.

“It’s smoke and mirrors,” Mr. Obama said. “It’s bogus. And it’s all too familiar. Every time we get close to passing reform, the insurance companies produce these phony studies as a prescription and say, ‘Take one of these, and call us in a decade.’ Well, not this time.”

Rather than trying to curb costs and help patients, he said the industry is busy “figuring out how to avoid covering people. And they’re earning these profits and bonuses while enjoying a privileged exemption from our anti-trust laws, a matter that Congress is rightfully reviewing.”

Smoke and mirrors, indeed Sir! At this moment, there is some serious quaking in their boots going on in InsuranceLand. It's about damned time.

Props to President Obama for truth telling and taking the bull by the horns. The American people need to know what's really going down in this fight instead of the usual corporate and Republican spin that changes the subject with lies and obsfucation.

Timing is everything?

Perhaps.

Give 'em enough rope, rope-a-dope?

Likely.

North Carolina. Turning the South Blue!

Here's what we need to do

Right now the Senate bills are all being "merged" by just a few people -- Harry Reid, Chris Dodd, Max Baucus, and Rahm Emanuel. It is a critical moment for the public health care option.

Here's a suggestion (originally from DailyKos):
Call the White House switchboard at 202-456-1414 or 1-800-828-0498 (or Monday 9am-5pm at 202-456-1111).

Say firmly but politely: "Please tell President Obama to MAKE Harry Reid include the Public Option, without a trigger, in the final Senate Bill."

If we want a public option in the Senate bill, the President is going to have to insist on it. Otherwise, Reid is unlikely to come through on his own.

Does it seem suspicious that the "mandatory insurance"...

was included with no qualms? And now one of the plans being 'leaked' would bring the bill for a vote 'without' any public option, and they would try to add the PO as an amendment. Of course the amendment would need the 60 votes, and Reid knows the whores would vote against it anyway. And as suspected, the insurance racketeers will walk away with another bundle, while Obama will sign it into law, and complain that there should be something done... What bullshit!

Yep

It's been rigged from day one.

"Mandatory insurance"

There are two things we need to take a look at very closely with regard to the Health Insurance Reform bill that is upcoming.

Please read what I have to say here so that you understand what I'm presenting.

First, there is a proposed provision that is asking that people in the U.S. should be able to obtain health insurance without regard to any pre-existing condition.

Second, there is a proposed provision that is saying that it will be a requirement that everyone in America be covered by health insurance...mandatory health insurance, so to speak.

Now, if there is a provision that no one can be excluded from obtaining health insurance because of a pre-existing condition, it MUST BE that there is also a provision that everyone in the U.S. is required to have health insurance. If this second provision isn't in place, then people could just NOT get health insurance and then if they found out that they had cancer or some other major health condition that would cost an enormous amount of money to treat, if everyone could get health insurance regardless of pre-existing condition, these people could just not buy health insurance but then when they have a horrible condition just go to Blue Cross or United Health Care or whatever and say, "I want to purchase health insurance" which cannot be denied, and that insurance company would then be liable for the huge cost of their treatment.

I think the government is thinking this through and is doing the right thing here.

Think about it.

Of course the amendment would
