Here's a nice bit of news I just received by email:

CHAPEL HILL _ Representative Tricia Ann Cotham will receive the Outstanding Young Alumna Award on Saturday from the School of Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Rep. Cotham will formally accept the honor during a ceremony at the George Watts Hill Alumni Center on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus. The award recognizes a recent graduate who “has shown outstanding leadership and/or exceptional commitment to the education of children the recipient of this award will personify the mission of the School of Education by emphasizing the interconnectedness of homes, schools and communities through both professional and volunteer work.”

::
Rep. Cotham represents District 100 and is a member of the Education, Finance, Judiciary III, Commerce, Education K-12, and Juvenile Justice Committees. She was recently appointed by the Speaker of the House to The Joint Education Oversight Committee and is the only currently licensed school administrator in the NC General Assembly. She was Teacher of the Year for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in 2001 and Mint Hill Teacher of the Year in 2003.

Ms. Cotham and I have traded emails about live-blogging at BlueNC, which she is more than willing to do. I've been negligent in not following through - but I will and I'll keep you posted.

Yikes

I just noticed that I'm hogging the front page. Sorry. Sometimes I get carried away.

Heh...I've also traded emails with Tricia about live-blogging

at the time she was having trouble getting away from the office in order to live blog and will not use her office computer for personal blogging. Greg offered to meet her somewhere during a lunch or other break so she could use his laptop and he could help her with other access issues.

Great . . . you take this one?

I'm starting to feel like live-blogging is a euphemism for live-flogging!

Just kidding . . . I think it's a great way to introduce people to North Carolina. And I'd be thrilled if you'd follow up with Tricia.

Purty please?

Okie dokie....

We will also have a fresh live-blog with my favorite congressional candidate and I will contact Harry Taylor as well.

Congratulations to Ms. Cotham!

I'd love to have her live-blog here. I'm glad that there are actual young Democrats in the NC legislature. Gives me real hope for the future.

Tricia is a very respected educator and it is a shame

CMS lost her. She tried to hold down both jobs, but simply can't serve as an assistant principal if she isn't on campus. While I respect her decision and feel it was the right one, it is still sad to know someone with her talent in the classroom (and as an administrator) is no longer working with our high school students.

Speaking of live-blogs with favorite congressional candidates.

There's this guy.

His name is Marshall Adame. Perhaps you've heard of him? I know he's here a lot, and posts a lot. I want to afford him the same opportunity that other candidates who don't bother taking the time to post with us often get. So how about I work on that? :-D

Uh...ok.

Since I'm finally going to get to meet the man on Saturday, I'll talk to him about it then.

Yaaaay!

I will be especially looking forward to Marshall's Live Blog

session. I've spoken with Marshall on the phone and read a lot of his posting here and on DKos, and I find him to be someone that I would support with every ounce of energy in his bid for Congress. I'm hoping to be able to assist him from my NC-12 district as soon as he is in need of out of district assistance. I'll even ask a tough question or two.

I'm out this morning

Gonna be in Hillsborough and Chapel Hill this weekend with a bunch of loud Republicans. Anyone care to save me from a fate worse than death?

I'll find out what their plans are and

see if I can't work in a pre-game trip to visit. I really don't enjoy these weekends.
