Because we need one.

Comments

im exhausted

and I have another 2-3 long days of work before a (partial) break.

Tonight, while reheating leftover pizza, I discovered that our oven is horrible. It leaks a ton of heat, doesnt work all that well, and oh by the way, all the knobs are so worn that the only knob with any writing is the oven, where I can see 400-500 kinda, except I have no idea where the temp is because the knob is also loose.

Life is an adventure.

Speak for yourself

Cubby and Edwards ... it's like Ron working with Voldemort. :-P

I always wanted to be the avenging cowboy hero—that lone voice in the wilderness, fighting corruption and evil wherever I found it, and standing for freedom, truth and justice. - Bill Hicks

OK Sam.

Please note: In the above comment, when I used the pronoun "we", I was using it in the royal sense, since I was feeling like Queen of the G.D. Internet. I was not speaking for Sam Spencer or any of the other denizens of BlueNC.

However, I must point out, comparing John Edwards to Voldemort is one of the worst similes I have ever seen. Everyone knowns that Cheney is Voldemort.

Jeebus.

John Edwards is Ron Weasley

sorry if I didn't make that clearer.

Sam

Put down the Kool-Aid. Even if it is the clear kind.

So what if Cubby is He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named?

I still love him.

He isn't.

It's Cheney.

Haven't you been paying attention for the past 6 years? Bush is Wormtail.

is all of this

from Harry Potter? Im so confused.

"Keep the Faith"

Cliche or not

Archetypes work in literature because they hold true. There's no way you can cast BlueSouth in the Voldemort role, unless you're putting him in the role of Tom Riddle. I've never met him face to face, but after reading so much of his writing here, I'd have to say he doesn't fit that role at all. Dare I say it, he's closer to Harry than any one else - working right there at New Hogwarts, er New Hampshire.

You, on the other hand, Severus. . .

(Yes, Blue South, it's all Harry Potter.)

Be the change you wish to see in the world. --Gandhi

I'm not in love with Blue South's Mom!

Now he's really going to be confused.

Everyone who knows me knows that I'd be Fred or George. Or Kingsley Shacklebolt.

OK - I don't even know you, yet somehow that fits.

Oh, I believe that.

Who was the guy who cut him off? Who didn't want to talk about that?

Why does industry get a better break than commercial and residential. That's not right.

The Utility Commission on the Hot Seat

Good.

They need to be.

Yappity Yap. I can't really answer your questions why those costs are appropriate or not.

Mr. Carr and Mr. Watson are supposed to answer the questions but they can't or they won't.

Chair's ruling: Chairman Luca's concern. A specific issue. We're not going to vote the bill this morning. Ask the COmmissioner the staff and anybody else who can spea k to Chrman Luca's specific concern that someone who can respond to his speciffic ocncern.

Multiple meters: Extra assessment. Based on power going through or per meter?

A: Per meter is the way it is currently drafted. SOmething to look at in the rule making. The effort was to put a cumulative cap on the amount of money that seems appropriate to spend on the REPS. That cumulative # divided by the number of accounts. Not saying good or bad. Multiple accounts are paying multiple per acct. # Consolidate per customer lower the sz of the cap.

He is saying that this amount is going to renewables. WHY? Is that the only place Renewable Money is coming from? That's crazy!

The bill is coming before the committee again. Have staff look at 16-G around the non profit credits. Page 27 line 6.

Response: Aware there is a problem with that. Substitute proposed.

No other inquiry. Finance in recess til 12 noon.

That's it for live blogging. Bye.

Walter Dalton on WRAL-TV Saturday

If people are interested in the "MySpace" legislation (to protect children online), Walter Dalton is going to be talking about it on WRAL Saturday evening.

This is important politically because the GOP still thinks it can win (some) elections by throwing out claims like "Liberals are weak on pedophilia." Who said "If Republicans stop lying about us, we can stop telling the truth about them?"

Headline Saturday, hosted by David Crabtree, can be seen on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. on WRAL Channel 5 (Time Warner Channel 3). It may also be viewed online on Sunday after 1:00 p.m. at www.wral.com.

It was Adlai Stevenson:

"I'll make a deal with the Republicans, if they promise to stop lying about us, we'll stop telling the truth about them!"

Hi Jerimee...You are assuming a natural compulsion to honesty...

on the part of most republican players in politics. History shows us that taking that assumtion would be a stretch.

"I'll make a deal with the Republicans, if they promise to stop lying about us, we'll stop telling the truth about them!"

I am reminded of the scorpion and the fox who both needed to cross the river. The scorpion promised not to sting the fox, which if done in the river would kill them both, if he could ride on the foxes back. The fox reluctantly agreed. Halfway across the river the scorpion stung the fox. As they were both drowning the fox said; "Why did you sting me? Now we will both die!" The scorpion said "I could'nt help it. It is my nature".

Do not condem each individual in the Republican Party, but as a Party by and large, always assume the friendly hand may be a trap. I refer you to Heath attending the Civitas in Raleigh.

I hope you are doing well.

Truly, the Republican Party has become Slytherin.

The Best John Edwards Video EVER.

Not the hair one, which is also good. I've never seen this one before today at my Kos diary.

f'ing republicans....

It is things like this that make my blood boil.

"Instead of simulating actual living conditions, which would show high levels of formaldehyde, FEMA directed that the trailers be tested with their windows open, their ventilation fans running and their air conditioning units operating 24 hours a day."
-- Rep. Henry Waxman, on how FEMA responded to toxic conditions in Katrina trailers

Hi Robert. The Bush Administration has shown almost no regard

for the common man and his safety. I expected no more from FEMA. The whole Katrina situation is a shinning example of the Bush total disregard and failure to understand the needs of the Average American in distress.

Had Katrina devestated an afluent white neighborhood, you can bet things would have been differet there.

The past 7even years of Bush Administration bungling have been a desaster for the American people and America itself.

Come See this Liberal About It -

bet you change your mind when I hand his ass back to him on a plate. No, Liberals are not weak on pedophilia or any other crime against a child. Try me and see.

"Liberals are weak on pedophilia."

Who said "If Republicans stop lying about us, we can stop telling the truth about them?"

Let 'em lie. People know what the truth smells like. I will never give up the truth.

Been there, done that. If they can't find dirt, they'll make it up. But their dirt is real.

was one of just 8 senators to vote against the 9/11 legislation that passed last night. Just saw that on Under the Dome; thought what is it you guys call her, empty wig? Yep, that's about right.

I think I'm gonna be sick.

Why are not all Americans demanding that the sorry excuse for a president be not only impeached, but jailed for a good long time. That clip where he flips the bird, the expression on his face - I usually only see that on 11-year-old boys.

Ditto, Chartreuse

Do they still have reform schools? That's where W needs to be. What an embarrassment to this country.

Lovex7

The time for reform school was about 50 years ago.

We're way past that. I'm afraid the time has come for impeachment, and then, as embarrassing as it will be, The Hague.

Home Depot vs Lowes

If you have a choice, choose Lowes.

This diary at Daily Kos explains it all. Feel free to write Lowes and thank them for bailing out of Fox News . . . or write Home Depot and tell them why you're not shopping there.

Or just hit 'em in the pocketbook like I do. Home Depot is on my shit-list.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Lowes is under attack from the Right Wingnuts.

A local whackjob had "his turn" in the paper - which is a great feature of the Pilot.

Been to Lowe's lately? Then you likely noticed that corporate Lowe's is willfully assisting, even promoting, the destruction of American national unity.

It has to do with having to press "1" for English when you call the headquarters. I bet Lowe's has signs en Español.

I bet this nutcase watches O'Reilly on a regular basis. I guess he's against the free market, which would dictate that Lowe's serve all of their customers, including those who speak a language other than English. He wants the government to declare English our official language, and make it illegal for private companies to cater to their customers. How incredibly fascist.

Is that a rhetorical question?

Or do you want an answer?

He hates it because if he actually follows the principles of democracy, he'd be ruining some baseball team's chances for the World Series in Texas, not destroying the US Constitution.
