Here are a few things I saw in the news this morning. What's on your front page?
Wells Fargo projects record profit for first quarter. Is it real? On paper? The result of snazzy accounting tricks? Would it have happened as quickly without any government assistance? If not, will they admit it?
Bill targeting elderly drivers dies in its infancy. Never underestimate the power of AARP.
The VEEP welcomed home troops at Ft. Bragg. Senator Hagan greeted them as well.
Anthony Foxx set to formally announce his candidacy for Mayor. Finally, voters in Charlotte have a mayoral race they won't want to sleep through. Both candidates fall into the "nice guy" category and both are competent. John Lassiter seems to vote with the center city contingency. Maybe its time for a mayor who pays more attention to our neighborhoods and the people who live in them.
The Fed revises its prediction. It no longer sees economic recovery for the second half of this year. Don't tell that to Wells Fargo. It might jinx them.
Defense Secretary Gates plans to shift defense spending from obsolete weapons programs to personnel and programs geared to modern warfare. Full budget due out first week of May. Two more weeks of hearing Republicans wail about cuts in defense spending. Gates actually asked for an increased budget. It costs money to hire more people to protect our country and it costs money to take care of them properly.

My dear hubby is on vacation this week
So I'm off entertaining him today. He wants to go shopping at Ikea. I have to make sure his wallet stays in his pocket.

ahhh yess..the blessings of IKEA.
I spent almost $1,000 there the other week, I'm still putting it all together.
In Belgium I used to live 3 miles from an IKEA, love their stuff.
Don't keep your hubby from spending there, someone has to bail out those Europeans ;-)
Well, I failed...the wallet came out
They delivered tonight and now he's keeping the girls up hammering away at something. It's a fun store. I'm more into antiques, but there is something for everyone there.
