New PPP Poll - Obama +10, Hagan +30, Perdue +18

Public Policy Polling (PDF) is out with their final North Carolina primary poll. They are pretty much calling the Senate and Gubernatorial races and they show Obama winning the popular vote in NC by 10 points.

The best news of the poll is that Robin Anderson has tied the two front-runners and there is a three way tie for first in the Labor Commissioner poll. The great news about that is that Robin has more endorsements from local groups in more cities that won't always show a result in the polls as the handouts are given out at the polls.

It's almost over.

UPDATE

I noticed something very exciting in the Anderson results. When polling those who had already voted vs those who had not, Anderson has the highest percentage of votes among those who have already voted.

Among those who have already voted:

Clinton - 34%
Obama - 63%

Hagan - 54%
Neal - 11%
Lassiter - 4%
Staley - 3%
Williams - 7%

Perdue - 58%
Moore - 35%

Anderson - 22%
Fant Donan - 20%
Brooks - 19%

It will be interesting to see how the undecideds break.

Also, a piece at Real Clear Politics poses the question - is Kay Hagan the next Jim Webb? Interesting piece.

I'm SO glad it's almost over

and I will be gladderer when it actually is over. Splitting hairs between good Dems has been painful. Let's get on to splitting Grand Canyons with the out-of-touch Republicans.

Me, too.

Good. Better. BESSE!! :) That might be the feather that pushes me off this fence I am unhappily perched upon, I don't know.

Pretty much as expected

Thanks for the poll numbers, Betsy.

I hope we also pick up that Republican held Judge's seat being challenged by Ervin and Ruth:

Snip from NCDP email:

Vote for:

Seat #1: Jim Wynn
Seat #2: Sam J Ervin, IV or Kristen Ruth

Also very good news for Goodwin for Insurance Commissioner camp

The same poll had Wayne Goodwin with a growing lead over his Democratic primary rival. At 6 points, this is the largest lead he has had to date. The Goodwin campaign beat his challenger in every cross-tab category, on information and belief, except one and even that one was very close. ...

Even more importantly, among the "early voters", which presumably are voters casting ballots in a more enlightened way after some review of the candidate backgrounds and positions, the Goodwin campaign is almost 20 points ahead!

Not to rest on one's laurels, please share with your friends, family and colleagues the urgency in voting for Wayne Goodwin for NC Insurance Commissioner. Jim Long's legacy of consumer protection is at stake.

Wayne, you know I love ya.

It's creepy when you talk about yourself in third person. Seriously. Like you're the king of England or something.

How's that baby doing?

I agree - I admit it is a tad weird; here's the back story

... the post is actually a crosspost from a press release from my campaign and it had to be in third person. Unfortunately, the copy/paste version didn't get "re-formatted" into first person when my campaign team suggested that it be added to BlueNC. The debate was whether to have so many "I" this and "I" that throughout ...

However, please note that the "third person" does not appear in the version at "Wayne's World." Specifically, go to http://eighthdistrictdemsnc.blogspot.com/2008/05/wayne-goodwin-lead-grows-in-state-poll.html

Meanwhile, Baby Jackson is doing well! He and Melanie came home from the hospital this afternoon. I plan to have photos up within the next couple of days of North Carolina's newest young Democrat - after the primary election!

Hagan the next Jim Webb???

Hagan, the next Jim Webb??? Hahhahahhahahhahhhahahahahhahahah.

I realize this article is almost strictly in direct relation to "insurmountable odds," but that's just comical.

I might be wrong in saying this...

but it looks like if you bring the 'big bucks', you can buy your election. We can talk all we want about principles and such, but in the end your little blurb on TV carries the election. I know now why J. Edwards dropped out. No way could he raise the 100+ million needed to beat Obama or Clinton. Dalton leads his poll, and spent all kinds of cash on TV ads. Beverly pounded the airwaves pretty steadily. And Hagan did her share. All will be likely victors in this primary. Of course most of this money came from your middle class voters. Yeah, right!

Really?

Clinton had more positive messages than John Edwards? That wasn't my impression.

Oh come on Betsy

They didn't all have more positive messages than their opponents. This is about whether a candidate's message got delivered at all, and unless the candidate had the money to plug into tv and other means of advertising, no message got delivered -- positive or not.

Obama, Perdue and Hagan

did not engage in negative campaigning to the same level as each of their opponents. I didn't say it was the reason why. I simply pointed it out. Oh...and I didn't see Dalton mentioned...but other than loving the sound of his name and going after Dellinger once....I mean.....the sound of his name is kinda negative, so I guess you're right.

We need to retire Dole

Dole and McCain have between them had over a century to shape the world in their image. Despite being in the twilight of their influence they are politically formidable. Starting Wednesday we need to do what we can, with the candidates we have, where ever we may be.

Good News for Cowell

The PPP numbers today had good news for Janet Cowell, who had fallen behind David Young in the Treasurer's race since Young started running TV ads.

Janet Cowell 26
David Young 18
Michael Weisel 14

Still a good number of undecideds, but I'm hopeful that things will break in Janet's direction.

shhhhh...don't tell Will

I am going to be in trouble for sneaking on here right now but I desperately need a break. I want to take a moment and say thank-you for everyone's support of my campaign. No matter what happens tomorrow your thought-provoking enthusiasm in the political process has been inspiring. I keep telling Will that I am aiming for quality; not quantity votes. Please keep Will in your thoughts tomorrow - I am worried he may have 'primary' heart failure. He has worked so incredibly hard against incredible odds and I am deeply grateful for all that he has done. Next time we talk I will either be exhausted and elated; exhausted and in abject despair; exhausted and starting all over in a run-off or perhaps just plain exhausted.

Robin Anderson for Labor Commissioner

Fingers crossed for Robin!

Hang in there, Ms. Anderson. A whole bunch of us are pulling for you!

Our lips are sealed ....

but our keyboards are smokin'. heh.

ok, that was bad. But you've got my vote, Robin, and at least three other previously confused but now confirmed voters will be filling in the oval for you tomorrow. :)

Hope all goes well!!

Don't you worry

I've been chatting with Will today. He's doing just fine.....I think.

Oh...so that's what he meant about a bridge and jumping...... :D

And now we wait...

I just finished putting signs at polling places in Carteret County for Marshall Adame, then came home and ate dinner and read the day's BlueNC posts. It is truly exciting. Glad the primary campaign is over, but it's gonna be a long and fun day waiting to see what the voters think. Just wanted to thank Blue for all the kind words said about and for Marshall. May all the most progressive candidates win tomorrow ... and again in November. Like James, I am unbelievably anxious for us to stop beating up on each others' candidates and start landing jawbreakers on the bad guys...Let's all come together Wednesday morning and work our rears off for the good of the country the state and the world.
