NCFE Unveils Mobile Billboard Calling Out Congressman George Holding’s Votes
to Destabilize Healthcare and Cause Premiums to Skyrocket
Former NC Congressman Bob Etheridge,
Teamsters VP Rick Armstrong, and NC NOW President Gailya Paliga
Cut the Ribbon Launching the “Reckless Express”
Raleigh, NC – A mobile billboard highlighting Congressman George Holding’s record on healthcare and the resulting escalation of insurance premiums was launched this morning at the Fuquay-Varina Town Hall. North Carolinians for a Fair Economy (NCFE) Advisory Board members cut the ribbon on the digital mobile billboard, Reckless Express as it set out throughout Congressman George Holding’s 2nd Congressional District for the next several weeks.
A report released earlier this month by the Center for American Progress, using data from the Congressional Budget Office, shows that the average health insurance premium in North Carolina will rise by $1433 as a result of the repeal of the individual mandate and other Trump/Holding changes to healthcare policy. Furthermore, by 2021, premiums could rise as much as 90%.
“Rural NC and our farmers are hurting,” said Former NC Congressman Bob Etheridge. “We have to let these folks know that Congressman George Holding is consistently voting against their best interests. Taking away their healthcare, and their children’s healthcare, causing these kinds of unsustainable rises in the premiums on the insufficient plans that remain, and giving enormous tax cuts to millionaires and billionaires does not help rural North Carolinians struggling to get by?” added Etheridge.
“Holding votes the way Speaker Paul Ryan and the GOP leadership tells him to vote,” said Rick Armstrong, Vice President of Teamsters Local 391. “The well being of his constituents doesn’t seem to be his first priority. Workers cannot take on the added burden of premiums that are expected to double,” Armstrong added.
President of the NC National Organization for Women Gailya Paliga said, “The repeal of the Affordable Care Act and the subsequent interference by Trump/Holding will raise premiums, raise the number of uninsured, and deny women basic health care. The recent imposition of the Trump/Holding ‘gag rule’ is an attempt to take away women’s basic rights. Period.”
Congressman George Holding is oblivious to the needs of his constituents in the 2nd Congressional District. He voted with the GOP to repeal the Affordable Care Act. He voted for the #TrumpHoldingTaxCut that benefits big corporations, millionaires, and billionaires. Working families and children in NC’s Congressional District 2 are left behind while Holding enriches himself and his wealthy friends.

Glad to see this. Time to get cracking. Every Congressional district could use the same tactic.
