NC Policy Watch Lunch on Workplace Safety

Workplace safety: What will it take to convince state officials to act?

Earlier this year, people across North Carolina were shocked and saddened by a special series in the Charlotte Observer entitled “The Cruelest Cuts: The human cost of bringing poultry to your table.” In it, a team of journalists documented the extraordinary pain and suffering that is endured on a daily basis by poultry industry workers throughout the Carolinas, as well as the long history of inaction by public officials to improve workplace health safety. On April 16, NC Policy Watch will sponsor a special Crucial Conversation lunch to discuss the series, its findings, and what North Carolina public officials must do to address this long-ignored problem.
