There is a story developing where the NC-AFP mailed out hundreds of incorrect voter registration forms to NC citizens. More on the story can be found here:

What makes this even more ridiculous (than the fact that everyone involved should probably be in jail), is that one of these was mailed to a resident's cat. We're not sure yet where AFP got the data for these people, we are sure that what they did was unethical and illegal. Seriously though ... a cat?

The State Board needs to thoroughly investigate the voters’ complaints to determine if the felony statute about purposeful misinformation was violated – or turn this case over immediately to the Wake County District Attorney. Unfortunately, we’ve already had to stop the Republican leader of the NC Senate from broadcasting a false ad about a photo ID being required to vote now. There’s a sad tradition of misleading voters, going back to the days of Jesse Helms. At a minimum, investigators needs to get the mailing list to see who was targeted by these mailings, interview the people involved in putting this project together, and see how the mailing fits within a multi-state campaign by Americans for Prosperity. All that will help determine whether this was stupid and dangerous or also a criminal violation. – Bob Hall, Democracy North Carolina
