Morning Post

Spent a little time in the Dean Dome last night. I can hardly wait to hear what CNN says I think of it all.
Meanwhile,
• Picking up on a pattern: Newspaper runs big take out thumbsucker fretting over the dying newspaper industry then a few weeks later offers 'voluntary' early retirement packages to most of the people making decent money. Word from the newsroom is that many of the senior people got an offer.
• Fresh from Italy, the Guv endorses Hillary. I can hardly wait for CNN to remind me that he is our most popular Governor evah.
• If you get a call from Lamont, just hang up.
Early voting expands in Meck.

Vote Democratic! The ass you save may be your own.

Grrrrr

Someone else is apparently running "robocalls" in African-American neighborhoods that appear to be designed to confuse voters and depress turnout. Here's an excerpt from a press release sent out yesterday by Democracy-NC's Bob Hall:

Hall said his group has also received reports of automated or 'robo' telephone calls to black neighborhoods that tell people that they need to fill out a registration form being mailed to them before they can vote. The calls are allegedly from Lamont Williams,' who sounds like he wants to help people 'make your voice heard.' But he instructs them to fill out, date, and return a registration application being mailed to them, and 'then you will be able to vote.'

The deadline for mail-in voter registration has already passed, and the calls seem to be going to black voters who are already registered.

Hear the call at: http://www.democracy-nc.org/nc/spprncall.wav

'This is another in a long line of deceptive practices used in North Carolina and elsewhere that particularly target African-American voters,' Hall said. 'In our view, this phone message plainly violates North Carolina law. We ask the Attorney General, State Bureau of Investigation, and the State Board of Elections to investigate, expose, and prosecute the sponsors of these calls.'"

Did BlueNC break that story first?

I heard about it here before I saw it anywhere else.

Aikens and Wood

Neither Fred Aikens nor Beth Wood have sent out a happy press release announcing that they have qualified for public financing. This means they haven't got there yet.

This sets up Les Merritt to coast to victory using the public financing program he doesn't even support.

Les Merritt is a partisan opportunist. Click the link to find out how.

Can yall help me brainstorm how I can raise 500 ten dollar contribution for each Democratic candidate? Throw out whatever idea first comes to mind.
