Let's Pack the House

What: Kilowatt Ours Film Showing
When: Tuesday, July 18, 2006
Time: 7:00 - 8:30 PM
Where: NC Museum of Natural Sciences - Raleigh

Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth gave me all kinds of crazy nightmares - from penguins chasing me because they were seriously pissed off about the melting ice, to watching my liquor stash float away with my house because the polar caps collapsed and flooded Raleigh. The movie did inspire me to do something about climate change. However, I think the film missed an opportunity by not throwing out some everyday solutions.

Well, there is another independent film coming to Raleigh that may provide some ideas to energize average Americans. Kilowatt Ours documents how America's insatiable demand for energy is the driving force behind environmentally destructive mountaintop coal mining practices. The film also shows what one couple is doing to eliminate their dependence on power generated from coal and nuclear sources. If you can't make it to the viewing, I plan to attend and will blog about it.

This sounds terrific

It would be a bit of a haul from Charlotte. Maybe they will show it somewhere here. I'll look into it.

Vote Democratic! The ass you save may be your own.
