This doesn't need a whole lot of commentary. All I know is that when I called State Rep. Tricia Cotham to see if she wanted to blog with us she said she would but that she couldn't do it from her office. She couldn't use her state-owned computer to conduct anything but official business.

Yes, I'm telling you that the youngest member of the North Carolina State House and one of its newest members has a better sense of propriety than Les Merritt - the man Perdue and Moore have each asked to investigate the other about improper use of state owned property and state employee time.

Well, hells bells! It looks to me like Les Merritt hisownself has somebody putting together a brag book for da boss on company time and using the company equipment.

UPDATE:

They just can't stay away. This time it was a yahoo email alert that sent someone at the same computer in the state auditor's office to the same blog page.

Less Merit

is the wrong person to investigate anything.

Dumb Ideas

Asking Merritt to audit their campaigns -- endorsing him as an objective outsider -- was about the dumbest thing two Democrats could have done, especially considering he's a target of the party at the moment.

Given the opportunity, I'd have smacked them both for that idea if I were on their campaign staff.

Act like leaders, not hot-headed children.

Smack away

They both need it.

Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

Vote Democratic! The ass you save may be your own.

Unfortunately ...

I'll not likely have the opportunity anytime soon.

But ...

It's not near as rewarding as doing it in person.

I acutally disagree

I see where you are coming from, but for Perdue and Moore, its likely that they decided to go to Merritt for 2 reasons. #1 Investigations like this are actually his job if I am not mistaken. Unless these complaints would go to Cooper, but I doubt they would. #2 Sending the complaints to a targetted Republican who is an elected official is a way of them quietly saying "this is not a political issue it is an issue of what is right and legal"

I dont expect to sway anyone with either guess, but I can see how it would have been justified to begin with.

Another case of

"It's OK if it's a Republicant!"

No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.

Progressive Discussions

Once, I was doing research

on a story tip I'd been given about a politician. I've never written anything about it because I've never been able to come up with anything other than "somebody said...." Anyhow - my search led me to a couple of blog sites. The owner of the blog site posted my IP address because I searched A LOT and the site kept coming back up. I was horrified. Fortunately, someone prevailed upon him to take my IP address down before I had to contact him and say "dude, it's nothing, I'm just doing research."

It actually stopped me from searching for stuff for a long time. However -- I was working from home, not work, so at least I wasn't stupid about it.
