Kissell in top tier in money raised

First, let's get this out of the way - Robin Hayes is not running for congress. I don't care how many times he says he plans to run if nobody steps up to challenge Larry. He raised $644, has about $18,000 on hand and carries $180,000 in campaign debts. Ignore him.

Quarterly FEC reports are in and Larry Kissell is in the top tier of North Carolina Congressional incumbents from both parties in money raised for the quarter. Only Etheridge and McIntyre outraised Kissell and only by about $10,000 each. He is in the middle tier for cash on hand.

That's big news for those of us used to the press and pols criticizing Larry's fundraising ability. Hopefully, he can line the war chest even more before a challenger files and starts raising money. Like his politics 100% or not, it's important to protect our incumbents and it's nice if they have a huge head start so we can put our energy and money into helping Democratic challengers.

Here's a rundown in order of money raised this quarter:

Bob Etheridge
$169,830 - raised
$895,137.19 - cash on hand

Patrick McHenry
$165,421.13 - raised
$119,270.01 - cash on hand
$200,000 - campaign debts

$214,051.57 - cash on hand
$10,000 - campaign debts

Sue Myrick
$144,694 - raised
$160,751.11 - cash on hand

G.K. Butterfield
$144,011.13 - raised
$225,204.65 - cash on hand

Mike McIntyre
$121,551.69 - raised
$696,540 - cash on hand

Heath Shuler
$120,874 - raised
$1,109,707.48 - cash on hand

Comments'd already handled that

No need to be redundant.

Fuzzy math

When I read your title, I thought, wow, these Ron Paul guys must sure have some fund-raising machine, but now I see you are trying to play some little game. How much money has Mr. Hill actually raised for his race? Anything?

Thomas Hill! Please Verify?

Please verify your Source and amount with FCC link? It appears to have no record of Thomas Hill with FCC

And you won't find one.

He might not have a DJ license with the FCC. But if you're talking about the FEC, last I checked, the FEC was still run by the government and a man with no money still has more than one reporting $180,000 in debt.

Kissel and Hill are in a head to head race for this seat starting today.

Only the bought and paid for mainstream media still recognizes the Republican Party.

Nice avatar.

I don't get it.

Paying all Erica Church's bill's is wrong?

Please show math and work.

Disinformation Libertarian Fool at this site?

Look fool! Tom is not listed at the FEC site, It's crap like this that gives Libertarians the weird and ususual view of politics to the voters and the masses......Rule one in politics! " Win the Fans!" At the moment, the only thing you have done is hurt Tom with this BS......And if you believe that Tom is neck and neck with Larry, than you should joined the Alien Lizard party and take back Mars......

80% of Kissell's money from PAC

OK, now that Kissell is in office, I guess that it is ok for "special interests" to assert undue influence on his votes. 78.6% of his "donations" have come from PAC's in this cycle. Then look at the individual contributions and note how many of them are coming from outside of the district. His appeal in the district is not personal, he has not connected with the voters, he just happens to be a Democrat. Quit being so danged blind to what is going on.

Nice RNC talking points Piper

Many of my friends live in the district...actually most of my friends do. My mother lives in the district. My best friend lives in the district. They are all left of Larry Kissell politically speaking and they all still support Larry. I've been to several political functions in the 8th District and Larry is very warmly received. Far right Republicans might not like him, but from my experience in the district - and I am in the district almost on a daily basis - he has built his support base among moderate Democrats and Republicans.

The problem with spouting RNC or NCGOP talking points instead of speaking from actual experience is you wind up looking a bit foolish since they are so often wrong.

Wait a minute

I have not posted on this blog my dissatisfaction with Rep. Kissell's votes. If memory serves me correct, you have. I'm not following talking points. I make my own up as I go along. Don't try to put me in a box because you have pre-conceived notions. I will surprise you most of the time with the way I look at things.

I Disagree

The voters HAVE connected with Kissell and they love him. They might not like the way he votes on some things (ME), but they will vote for him again. BTW, they probably don't know how he votes, but they like him as a person. Remember, the 8th went to a Robin Hayes for 10 years, so they didn't vote for Kissell just because he is a Democrat.

Well, Betsy

I guess we were posting at the same time.

Funny how many people I know in the district don't agree with Larry 100%, but still support him 100%.

OpenSecrets says more like 30 percent

$118,750 / $397,087 is .299 percent for cycle.

Regardless, PACS are people too, especially when half of it comes from labor.

As for in-District donations, consider consulting a map as your FEC reading companion as you scroll.

And I don't fault all the good people in Raleigh, Asheville and Winston-Salem for supporting him either.

I'll give you that one....

Technically, you are correct. I should have stated that only 21% of his contributions came from individuals.

Well thanks for the reminder to give to Kissell

This individual hasn't given again yet because Kissell hasn't asked (guess he's busy) and your people can't seem to come up with a viable Republican opponent anyway.

But I guess I'll go ahead and give to Kissell now since you brought it up.

Thanks Piper!

Your welcome

I am appreciative of anyone that participates by giving of their time, talents and money. I wish more people on all sides would get more involved. You don't have to SHOUT at me, I listen pretty well, its the comprehension with which I stumble.
