Jim Neal's Campaign HQ Grand Opening Last Night

One of the many reasons I really like this guy - a good friend of mine's boyfriend has purple hair (this week) and a pierced eyebrow. Jim walked right up and shook their hands, didn't bat an eye.

Here we all are: me, my friends, and Jim Neal:
Jim Neal Open House

He has a very good point when he says that $2300 does not buy you 2300 votes. My friends and I are not the Liddy Dole corporate donor-types who have that kind of cash to throw around. Yet we still get treated like real people, like our voices matter.

Like I told my friends, I have a really hard time trying to picture Mrs. Bob Dole at an event like the one in Durham last night, where we were eating pizza and cupcakes, drinking sodas, several kids running around underfoot, with Jim walking around listening to people, talking with us, not at us.

Thanks to everyone who came to the Grand Opening of our Durham HQ last night, too! It was fantastic to see so many faces, and to meet some more folks from BlueNC and Pam's House Blend.

There will be more photos forthcoming; my husband the shutterbug took LOTS of pics, but I haven't had time to crop and upload more than one or two. There's a couple more on my flickr account here:

If you missed him last night, here's his appearance schedule for the next few weeks, including the Buncombe County Democratic Celebrity Chili Cook-off (mmm...chili):

Thanks for the update.

Jesus Swept ticked me off. Too short. I loved the characters and then POOF it was over.

my husband said...

something like how strong the "blogger ladies" were representing! Of course, Jim Neal won over my son by declaring him his "8 year old black belt in tae kwon do" the official bodyguard of the Jim Neal for US Senate campaign! My son is prepared to post signs all over the state now, (and, possibly roundhouse kick anyone who won't vote for him, but I will discourage that!)

It really was a fun time, for serious business.

You have a great kid :)

I'm pretty sure we have some photos of him, in among all the ones we took last night. I think that's this evening's project, trying to get a big batch cropped and up on Flickr.

compliments on the kid welcome!

He has been having a bad time lately(teased at school, other stuff) and hid behind the door when we first arrived, but this was a really friendly, relaxed group and he warmed up a lot. I hope they did not catch him threatening that 6 six old boy on film!
