A couple of weeks ago, BlueNC blogger Thomas Brock correctly observed that two of our illustrious Congress critters had signed Newt Gingrich's Contract With America. Sue Myrick and Walter Jones both declared in front of god and the American people that they believed no one should be in Congress forever. In fact, they said six terms were enough.
Yet here they are today, running again for the jobs they promised to walk away from in their Contract With America.
Just in case you think it's impossible for someone in power to actually do what they promise, witness Charles Sanders today, who has resigned as chair of the NC Lottery Commission. He told Mike Easley last summer that he would serve for one year - and that year is up. He is an honorable man. He is keeping his word.
Why aren't Walter Jones and Sue Myrick keeping their word? Why are no North Carolina reporters asking these two Members why they aren't doing what they said they would do?
Why are we represented in Congress by such a bunch of opportunists and liars?

With thanks to Robert P.
LIAR is one of his favorite words. It's becoming one of mine, too.
Well...it's just so
Clear and fucking simple!
And it's biblical, so the wingnuts will understand!

Did SD just drop the F-bomb?
I believe she did!
Not the first time
and won't be the last. I am trying to keep it out of my blog posts though....
I hear tell that Robin Hayes prints them up and passes them around church to show how mean we are. I wouldn't want to offend any of the little old church ladies.

I hope he prints this one:
Dear Church Ladies.
I hear Congressman Hayes is passing out stories from BlueNC to show how mean his opponents are. If that's true, I hope you'll forgive all the swearing I've done about him.
But the truth is the real obscenity is what Robin Hayes is doing to the people of the 8th district and the whole country. He's sold us all down the river on his crazy power trip - and regular people are getting the short end of his stick.
Sorry to say, but that makes me madder than all get out.
A
Hehehe
I don't know that he's actually printed anything off BlueNC. I heard from someone familiar with his campaign tactics that he will take printed materials from the opposition. I'm trying to keep it clean juuuuust in case.

OK A.
lets here the street corner version!
Don't Forget...
Even Bill Frist kept his word about stepping down, with Presidential Ambitions to think about. This just makes it even worse, it shows that our North Carolinian Republicans are led by liars, more so that Republicans anywhere else in the country.
CountryCrats - my thoughts, my blog.
Jesus Swept ticked me off. Too short. I loved the characters and then POOF it was over.

You know you're bad...
When you're worse then Frist!

Thomas
What have YOU done today to make the world a better place?
I think I have heard this one
Isn't it very similar to "If you will just forgive me this time, I swear I will never do it again".
Lovex7
Seriously ya'll, when they lie and cheat about....well, just
about everything, why would anyone think that they would hold themselves to account? Pfffft!
Liars, Liars, Pants on Fire!
No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.
Sue Myrick's Response
In 2004, Congresswoman Myrick was asked this very question in the League of Womens Voters Debate. Her response was that she did not realize that it would take so long to become an effective Congressperson. This is the line that any of the Contract signers use when confronted with this question. In the Ninth District the voters don't care about who signed the Contract. They just go along with the Republican Talking Points.
Here w are in the eleventh year of her congressional career and she is still considered one of the least effective Congresspersons serving. I guess she is waiting until the time is right to start representing her constituents.
I'll bet she didn't realize it would take so long
it's especially hard when you're a rubberstamping Bushbot without out brain of your own. Poor Sue. Her incompetence is more important than her integrity.
(Thanks for this. I figured someone had asked it somewhere, but it's still a drum worth beating.)
didn't realize it would take so long
Iraq, Afghanistan, deficit, retirement security, medical insurance, finding Osama, "insert Republican failure here", -
"I didn't realize it would take so long"
"insert Republican politician name here"
We tried to tell you.
Contract on America
Howard Coble signed it, too.
The liar.
Can we sue them for breach of contract?
YES!
They declared war back then. Are we ready to fight back or not?
I'm already fighting.
Ya know? Just not with bullets.
Not my style.
