Health Care for All North Carolina

We need some activists to lend support to this issue in this legislative season.
I hope BlueNC bloggers will lend a hand.

Seriously. Marching orders help.

Health care for All North Carolinians

Join a project called Two over Ten. We are writing to the state GA members, to present weekly letters for ten weeks on varying reasons why we need to make health care for all North Carolinians. There is a sample letter sent out each week with a focus. When we write to the GA members from our districts, we alert the core group and they follow up with hand delivered packets of info, facts, data. to the GA members.

We are working to influence our legislators locally, to support Verla Insko in making a constitutional amendment. Rather than squabbling about the details of reform efforts, we want to get everyone to agree on the basic principles first.

We especially need volunteers who can spend two hours over the next ten weeks, writing weekly to the Sen. and Rep from their district. We need volunteers who are not represented by Verla Insko, who is already on board.

Speak for Yourself

I am a mindful liberal Kool Aid drinker.

(but only the clear kind) ;)

I thought we were already doing that . . .

I emailed every legislator. I got a resolution supporting Verla Insko's bill passed at my precinct meeting. I can strip naked on Route 40 with some kind of banner but I'm not sure that will help.

Have you talked to Robert P? He's spearheading our efforts. Too lazy to link but go to his diary and you'll see.

Cool

Our precinct passed a resolution supporting Insko's bill, too. Its nice to be in such good company, DQ! ;)

great minds . . .

Or is it great Leslie minds?

DQ -

Stripping naked on I40 only helps if you paint yourself blue, spin around 3 times, and spit twice on the ground ground.

Don't ask how I know this.

On a serious note - I got my hair cut earlier this week, and mentioned my upcoming trip to DC to my hairdresser (and friend and neighbor.) She is a nominal Republican. The first words out of her mouth: "Geez - ask them to do something about our health care! I don't have any! I can't even afford to go for a physical."

Iraq, Shmiraq - this is the issue for 2008. I'm convinced.

Make sure

DQ knows when the I40 event is happening. Talk about a viral video ... /snarks

Everybody is getting more nervous and more worried about their healthcare. In the circles I run in its pushing the good old fashioned pissed off level on the issue meter. Totally agree, lcloud. Healthcare is the 2008 issue.

As I go around doing interviews with people

I've started collecting testimonial videos about health care. I expect to find some awful and compelling stories out there. Even with people who are doing okay, they are just so fed up that their neighbors and relatives are suffering. This could be a real grassroots thing easily.

Remember, Robert, I said in Raleigh that I wanted to do issue videos? I didn't know how that would work but I'm beginning to get an idea.

And, of course, WNCNN will be on hand to videotape the blue naked people on I-40. Everyone sign up for a county. I've got Burke. No, I know the sheriff. That would be too embarrassing. Give me McDowell.

if anyone is looking to do for healthcare what was done for the minimum wage. robert?
