Gay Marriage Destroys Governor Sanford's Marriage

It couldn't possibly be his strong faith that led him astray. I mean, the only reason heterosexuals cheat on their wives and husbands is because of the threat of gay marriage. Right?

It's not the affair

It's the hypocrisy and lying. Christian values at their sad worst.

Are you watching the conference live?

Boy those crocodile tears dried up fast! He said he was a straight up guy and would give answers even if they hurt but he sure did ignore the question, "Have you resigned as Governor?"!

BWHAHAHAH, teh hypocrisy, it burns!

Marriage and Argentina and Gay?

This calls for a special song from Madonna.

Don't Cry for Me, Argentina

Who were those kids in the background?

Where did he give the press conference? And how did they get those multi-culti kids in the background? Creepy.

I thought that was the most bizarre thing as well...

I'm watching the video with a bunch of smiling 12yr and 14yr-olds behind him. Can we pretend for just a moment that we don't talk about extramarital affairs right in FRONT of them for a moment? Weird...

i had no idea...

...that the appalachian trail ran through argentina...and for a guy who didn't want stimulus money for the trail, he seems to have been pretty ...stimulated, eh?

does this mean a copy of "down argentina way" would be perfect father's day gift?

were you aware that another rumor has surfaced regarding sanford's activities?

one more point: the not-yet-ex-gov reveals that the family knew for five months about all he decided to sneak off to see the girlfriend on father's day.

damn teh gayz and their carmen miranda fruit basket headgear!

last comment: the defense will be "leave him alone, it's a private matter..." to which i would respond: aren't you the same people who went after bill clinton tooth and nail?

...and John Edwards

had a Republican acquaintance foaming at the mouth over John Edwards last summer all the while excusing John McCain for his adultery because..."Edwards lied about it."

that is a good point...

...after all, sandford didn't exactly lie...instead, everyone around him did it on his behalf...which is so much more moral, n'est pas?

Karma is a bitch

Karma is a bitch:

“I think it would be much better for the country and for him personally (to resign). I come from the business side. If you had a chairman or president in the business world facing these allegations, he’d be gone.” [Sanford on Clinton, The Post and Courier, 9/12/98]

No Comparison

Bill Clinton was the President of the United States...lied repeatedly ("I did not have sex with that woman")...but the kicker was that he lied to a GRAND JURY! When will Dems acknowledge this?

Mr. Equal

perhaps you mistake this site for the RedHate site. If you just came here to mock you will be banned as James has warned you in another thread. Now grow up and play nice, if you would like a debate act and speak like an adult and we will be glad to participate.

How did I "mock" you?

I stated nothing but facts. Do you really want a debate or are you just looking for endless confirmations of your opinions? Do you want to know what goes on inside the mind of an intelligent conservative or do you just want to insulate yourself here?

I came to this site to observe what "the other side was thinking". I admit it is tempting to throw a caustic remark here and there, but I am trying very hard to be civil.

It appears that only dissenters have to follow the "rules".

Government crises are usually manufactured to pick your pocket.

I think it was that "loon" reference.

It is admittedly easier to communicate here when you've been around for awhile. New guys get a closer, especially conservatives who come charging in with guns blazing.

I use to be more tolerant of zealots and bomb-throwers because I was one myself. But now I have morphed into a really nice and gentle person dedicated to doing good, being nice and having fun. That's harder when there's a storm of hostility swirling around me, which is why I try to interrupt downward spirals early and graciously.

As I said earlier, you're welcome here. I personally am always interested in engaging with conservatives, up to the point that it becomes clear they're not listening. For example, I've found myself becoming a harsh critic of incompetence on both sides of the aisle. Most conservatives I know, however, are still trying to defend the disastrous presidency of George Bush. An open mind would be much appreciated.

So noted...

BTW, I am much more a Libertarian than a GOP'er. Re: Bush, I never considered him or his father "conservatives". I think reasonable people can debate whether it was wise to go into Iraq. I am not into "nation building" or unnecessary intervention in foreign affairs...nuff said. Thanks for the welcome! I will try to add a different twist from time to time without throwing bombs...

Thanks James

as always you say it better than I. In and out today, slow day on Friday....whoo hoo!

Sure, there's a comparison

You can pick out all the happy little differences you want, but there is most certainly a close comparison.

Crying? Come on, Sanford...

Someone in my twitter stream

Someone in my twitter stream mistakenly attributed Sanford as the NC governor. I quickly corrected the record and then followed with: "Our governors get jobs for their wives and cars for their kids, they don't betray them like #Sanford."

There are people in every time and every land who want to stop history in its tracks. They fear the future, mistrust the present, and invoke the security of the comfortable past which, in fact, never existed. - Robert F. Kennedy

I'm not saying I thought this was what was happening...

But when it was revealed that Gov. Sanford was missing, it reminded me of season 6 of "The West Wing" when former Vice President Hoynes goes "missing" during the New York primary, and it's later revealed that it's b/c of another affair being revealed. Oh well...something

I apologize everyone

Sorry, I know this is completely my fault and I apologize. I knew as soon as I started it would bring ruination and yet I continued to think of no one but myself. We haven't even left for MA to get married yet and already the fall out abounds.

I'm so terribly sorry that my self centered love and devotion to my one partner has caused the Sanfords so much pain. I wish there was something that I could do to alleviate their woes. And I just pray that no one else is hurt by my foolishness...

No, it's my fault.

I've just never seen a man that tan before.

I'm sorry.

You have a choice you know could just live in sin.

WAIT! Man are you screwed. According to the fundies you're damned if you do marry another man and damned if you don't. One way or another sweetie, you're living in sin.

I sure as hell hope you make the best of it!

Catch 22

They also claim that we are the most promiscuous (hm, like having an affair?) then when we want to get married deny us the chance. Guess, they don't want to be proven wrong.

The Girlfriend and i...

does your relationship threaten us?

any insight you could offer would be appreciated.

"...i feel that if a person can't communicate, the very least he can do is to shut up." --tom lehrer, january 1965

Not 100% sure

I've not yet worked out all the rules for it yet, but from what I understand so far is that same-sex marriage will only ruin traditional marriage as defined in the bible. So I suppose you are safe as long as you don't marry your sister like Abraham (though that may have been half-sister) or your servants, or take 700 wives and 300 concubines.

we do gratefully acknowledge the help...

...on this one, and (let's hope i correctly understood the japanese here) yes, we are aware that we lack a bit of social grace, but we do appreciate the delightfully formal way in which such an observation was offered.

...since concubines are usually paid "under the table", so to speak, the effect on official unemployment figures should be something approaching net neutral.
