Final Fundraising Push for Kissell, Adame & other NC Dem Challengers

The presidential candidates are busy maxing out their donors and making it hard on all down ticket candidates to raise money in the process. That's why I'm appealing to you one last time before the end of the quarter to help the challengers in our North Carolina congressional races. I know the incumbents are having a hard time raising money as well, but they have far more contacts and larger donor bases, so I will leave them out of this particular plea for funds.

North Carolina's 8th Congressional District

First on my list is Larry Kissell. Larry has been working hard at two full-time jobs. He still teaches high school and he campaigns for congress in every spare minute.

Please give to Larry.

Larry remains humble and appreciative even with all the big names coming out to campaign for him. Ambassador Joe Wilson visited last weekend and congressional leaders are lending their names to the campaign.

Here is Larry's ActBlue page.

Yesterday, Howie Klein and the folks at FireDogLake hosted Larry as part of their BlueAmerica fundraising push and raised close to $2000. From Howie:

That’s someone speaking who is running for Congress from a North Carolina district which includes Fort Bragg and includes thousands of military families. And he’s very proud that so many military families are supporting his campaign. They’re his people. He takes the plight of his friends and neighbors very seriously. That too, if you remember from last time he visited with us, is the kind of guy Larry Kissell is.
“After the campaign when I went back to teaching, some of my fellow social studies teachers asked me what was my one lasting impression of what I’d been through and I said that North Carolina has some really good congressmen trying to do the right things for the right reasons, supporting Democratic values as I have learned them through my life.”

Larry and I talked about Brad Miller, Mel Watt, David Price and G.K. Butterfield. “That’s the type of congressman I want to be… with Democrats who support the working person.” No one mentioned the reactionary North Carolina members from both sides of the aisle who are plumb loco, not just Hayes, but other out and out extremist kooks like Republicans Virginia Foxx and Patrick McHenry as well as 3 of the worst Democrats in the country, Bob Etheridge, Mike McIntyre and Rahm’s boy Shuler. One thing I can tell you about Larry; he’ll be his own man– one grounded in strongly-held progressive and democratic values who will make up his own mind for his constituents.

2008 is shaping up to be a good Democratic year in North Carolina. Local races will help bring out lots of Democratic voters in the highest performing district for Democrats in the South without a congressman representing them. Let’s help change that. This is our last Blue America session of this quarter. It’s no coincidence that I asked Larry to join us here today to field questions from the community. If you like what you hear, Larry’s Blue America box is open.

Finally, in Kissell news, Larry has received two huge endorsements. The NC AFL-CIO endorsed Larry this past week and in its first congressional endorsement this year the NCAE (North Carolina Association of Educators) endorsed Larry as well.

"We're proud to support Larry Kissell," said NCAE President Eddie Davis. "As a teacher, he understands the important issues related to public education and wants the best for our children. NCAE believes that by electing him to Congress, the citizens of the eighth district will send a representative to Washington, D.C. who is community-minded, fair and dedicated."

Don't forget to give to Larry before midnight to help out this quarter. Thank you.

North Carolina's 3rd Congressional District - Marshall Adame

Marshall Adame has a very impressive resume. His campaign is taking off and his name is showing up in local press and in newspapers as far away as Houston. The piece by Rob Christensen introduces Marshall's challenge to reality challenged Walter Jones.

You can give to Marshall Adame here.

But it is Jones' apostasy on the Iraq war that has stirred a political dust storm.

In only a few congressional districts are the politics of the Iraq war more complicated than in the 3rd District, which includes three military installations: the Marines' Camp Lejeune, Marine Corp Air Station Cherry Point and Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. More than 200,000 people are connected to those bases.

The arguments here are intense — and personal. The war is about friends, neighbors and family.

McLaughlin, 53, a former Army Ranger who is now a financial planner, said whenever he turns on the TV and sees an old Army buddy from Fort Bragg — Maj. Gen. Bill Caldwell, until recently a chief spokesman in Iraq — he seems to be speaking personally to him.

It is personal for Marshall Adame as well. Adame, a Jacksonville neighbor of McLaughlin, is a former Marine who served three years in Iraq as a civilian administrator. One of his sons is serving in Iraq and a second is back in the United States recovering from a wound received in Iraq.

Adame, a Democrat, is also running for Congress. He says he thinks it is time to get out of Iraq and says Jones has not done enough to oppose the war.

Momentum is building as Marshall makes his way across the district. Give here to help Marshall Adame keep the momentum going.

North Carolina's 5th Congressional District

I don't have much on Roy Carter, but am thrilled that someone has stepped up to take down that bat-shit crazy Virginia Foxx.

You can give to Roy Carter at this link.

You can find out more about Roy at his web site.

Don't forget to visit all the links and give 'til it feels good.

Please support our Dem challengers

Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

Vote Democratic! The ass you save may be your own.

Thank you dear......

Had to go tend to doggie duty.

NC State Challengers quiet

Since we have several local elections and the State reporting period doesn't end until December 31, I've been (relatively) quiet. Expect more noise from State campaigns like mine very soon. As we are even further down the food chain, save a little bit of "love" for us. Thanks!

Thank you Betsy..It has been tough ... but...

in the 3rd District, the Democrats are finally turning the corner and getting the validation and recognition which could, and I think will, bring a Democrat to the Congressional Seat in 2008.

Marshall Adame has been on the road all over the 3rd District and even outside of the District making a difference and turning the heads of everyone in North Carolina.

You better believe that I will continue to be out there fighting the good fight for a Democratic, free, and prosperous America where health care is an individual right, war is no longer a first shelf tool of U.S. foreign policy and where Citizens are assured of their liberty and personal rights without fear of the government.

I am sure the Marshall Adame for Congress campaign fundraising will also turn a corner to facilitate my efforts. I am counting on all of YOU to make that happen.

My campaign is arranging a fundraiser in February at the Democratic HQ building in Raleigh. Standby later for more information on that. I am sure it is going to result in more than the raising of money.

Democrats must stand and be counted. All over America Democrats are changing the political landscape and defeating the Bush-Cheney anti-Democratic agenda.

As for me and my house, we will continue to fight the good fight and run the race.

Marshall Adame
2014 U.S. Congress Candidate NC-03

Rec'd at the big orange satan

I plan on contributing only to the candidates like Marshall, Larry and Ed! Never again to DSCC, DCCC or DNC! That is unless they finally decide to become better representatives of the Democratic Party!

No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.

Progressive Discussions

This has been my strategy for the last decade. If the candidate is just a paler version of the Republican he/she is running against, what's the point who is in contro? The debte has been skewed so right in this country that the middle ground sounds more like the Rebublican candidates of the pre Nixon era.

We need people like Marshall, Larry and Ed!

Have you called to support H. Res 333 Impeach Cheney Today? call 202-224-3121 & ask for your Congress member by name

I plan on contributing directly to my local party

and to individual candidates like Marshall, Larry, Ed, etc. I can't wait to hear more about this guy who has filed to run against Coble!

Be the change you wish to see in the world. --Gandhi
