DOMA is dead!

Some good news at last....

Yea! But... understanding is that this does nothing to states where same-sex marriage is illegal.

So do people in 35 states now have to sue for their rights? Bleah.

Considering packing my bags

I see a lot of celebrating about the decision, but to me it looks as bad as the Voting Rights decision earlier this week - both leave local states perfectly free to carry on with discrimination.

I've lived in NC all my life and thought about moving out of NC after Amendment One, but I decided to wait to see how some of the court cases turned out.

I'm middle aged. I'd like to have the opportunity to live a few years in peace in a place where the state isn't actively discriminating against my beliefs and being allowed to get away with it.

We need you to stay and fight

I'm tempted to bail as well, but I just can't bring myself to let the bastards win. And in the long run, they will not win.

Our mission is to make the long run shorter.

I hope you'll both stay.

I ran away to Virginia once but came home to stay in short order. My ancestors have worked bled, and cried on this soil since before the French and Indian War. Sometimes I can't stand to live here, but I cannot bring myself to leave and cede this little piece of paradise to the crazies.
