Whatever your feelings may be on confederate monuments, this man's statement bears reading.
Rep. George Cleveland, a Jacksonville Republican, said the state should have the final say. “Municipalities and cities are subdivisions of the state, and the state can play with their property if they feel like it,” he said.
It bears reading because it exemplifies the feelings of NCGA's current leadership towards our state's municipalities. They get to play with us. The needs of individual areas may vary, but NCGA gets the final say on every single issue. For some reason, the same voters who elected them to the General Assembly are inept when it comes to responding to local government.
If you want someone to 'play' with your neighborhood, re-elect your GOP rep in 2016.
