In 2008 you and I need to retire Elizabeth Dole, Leslie Merritt, Skip Stam, and a few of the more compromised members of our congressional delegation. We also have 15 electoral votes that are ours to deliver.
This is a tall, tall order. To make it happen we need about 250,000 more votes than what we got in 2000 and 2004.
How do we get 250,000 votes? We can listen to folks talk about the political climate, hold a finger to the winds, and hope that we can raise enough money to buy a bunch of ads on TV. We can see if we can find a magic issue that will activate North Carolinians that aren't currently active. We can hope our opponents take their votes for granted.
Or we can go out and get the hard votes the old fashioned way, by talking to the people.
100 citizen organizers per county times 100 counties = 10,000 citizen organizers. If each of those organizers talks to 25 voters, then we've got a blue state. This is what needs to happen, this is what you and I need to make happen.
