Change agent. That's a good one, Pat.

In a speech at the state Republican convention in Greensboro today, the gubernatorial nominee received one of the loudest ovations as he called himself "a change agent" in his race against Democratic nominee Beverly Perdue, Jim Morrill reports.

Change agent. Hmmmm. Let us count the ways.

1. Pat McCrory is bringing the Worst President Ever to Raleigh to help raise money from a bunch of rich people for his campaign. Check.

2. Myers Park Pat is a rich white guy himself, who has been shilling for one of the nation's largest polluters, Duke Energy, his entire career. Check.

3. Pat "agent of change" McCrory has a list of contributors that looks like a who's who of sloppers at the government trough in banking and real estate development, with at least one US Attorney thrown in for good measure. Check.

4. Up until his political ambitions got the best of him, McCrory never even considered Charlotte part of North Carolina, nor does he consider himself part of the state. This is what we call Pat McCrory's big ugly "they" problem. From his victory speech last month, referring to his tenure as mayor in Charlotte: "I plan to bring that leadership to the rest of North Carolina because they deserve it." Just in case you missed it, "they" means "you." That's change alright. Check.

Only in the delusional mind of Republicans can you define "change agent" as another rich white guy who thinks North Carolina just can't get by without him. Pat McCrory is a hard-core Republican operative who considers it a privilege to be associated with George W. Bush. That's change North Carolina can well do without.

George looking into Pat's eyes

and took the measure of his character, just like he did with his buddy, Vladimir Putin. But why is McCrory smiling? Does he somehow feel honored to be clasping Bush's blood-soaked hand?

Scary stuff.

Loose Change and Loose Nuts in Republican leadership?

the gubernatorial nominee received one of the loudest ovations as he called himself "a change agent" *James

No doubt Pat is confuse like George along with their fans. They are like drunks hitting a toll booth and missing the loose change counter thinking it was a public urinal. The only thing those idiots have done is "change" the constitution and screw us over and over and over and over.

Why are some Dems so full of hate?

Even at their worst, I don't think I ever hated Presidents Carter or Clinton.

I'm sorry you have such feelings that rob your family and friends of the love you could be sharing with them.

Good point, James

Even though I think he's totally incompetent, I don't hate him personally.

To many reasons to list

Maybe it's because President Bush makes more bad decisions in a month than Presidents Carter and Clinton made during their entire administrations. The worst part is that he refuses to reaccess those decisions and change course when necessary. I'm guessing you're an Army officer. Would you charge blindly ahead if you learned your original intel was wrong?

That's why I'm a FORMER Republican.

It's actually love that inspires such anger, not hatred.

Love for the environment that Republicans often show such irresponsible contempt for; love for the growing number of folks who are steeped in poverty that many Republicans consider "lazy and unmotivated"; love for those who are struggling with mental illness and substance abuse that many Republicans consider a "lost cause"; love for people who have traveled thousands of miles to work grueling $6.50 per hour jobs without complaining, that many Republicans classify as a "danger to our society"; love for our soldiers and their families that have sacrificed life, limb and sanity for the administration's naive dream of reshaping the world into one big shopping mall; and yes, love for the Iraqi people themselves, who have suffered horribly over the last five years because "anything's better than Saddam" was the gist of our post-war plan for them.

I'm sorry you have such feelings that rob your family and friends of the love you could be sharing with them.

As long as conservatives believe the only thing that matters are the people that orbit around them in their own little planetary system, they'll never be able to comprehend the problems of the 21st Century, much less formulate effective solutions for them.

SCHarrison - I like your passion...

Speak to me about being a Factory Manager, and what conditions are like now.... and what conditions will/would be like should your favorite candidate be elected. Please tell me your factory pays your labor more than $6.50/hour.

We all have different angles to the problems/solutions... Do your really think all conservatives have that kind of narrow vision? I don't think I do... might be wrong.

Not much more than $6.50 for entry level,

although we do have a decent benefits package, which I helped design and have to periodically fight for.

Frankly, free trade is killing us. Some of our products are in direct competition with Chinese imports, and ironically enough, we have to import some Chinese (or other foreign sources) goods and/or raw materials ourself just to be able to compete with other American companies in other product lines.

Free Market Fundies rant and rave about "opening up foreign markets" for American products, but we'll lose in that equation every time. By the time it's over, we'll be a First-World country in name only.

Do your really think all conservatives have that kind of narrow vision?

No, but a whole lot of the influential ones do, which means that policies and platforms are constructed that way.

I don't think it's possible to hate someone you've never met.

I am extremely angry with the way George Bush and his administration have squandered their opportunity to lead.

Life is too short to hate him, or even Cheney. But life is not too short to be vigilant to see that such abuses of power do not happen again.
