Brown v. Anglico . . . One More Time

Comments

The Journal

got the story pretty close to right. One small correction: We parachuted out of helicopters, no fast-roping for me.

The thing that bothered me.

They mentioned your time in the military. But, what about your HUGE business success, as a small businessman, a mid-sized businessman, as an entrepreneur, your time on the city council, etc.

Without or With parachute Sir?

got the story pretty close to right. One small correction: We parachuted out of helicopters, no fast-roping for me.* A

Great PR for you A and the site. However Mr Brown is striking back claiming that you jump out of Helipcopters without a parachute and cause you to be a brain damage liberal........Just think! This is the Guy who replace the republican dude who took a large tip from Black at the Pancake house. I wonder what Mr Brown tip will be at Burger King should he roll over if things get out control in Winston-Salem about his brilliant PR political image now.

Too bad about the fast roping

(It made me kinda hot. Not that parachuting isn't pretty damn impressive.)

But to the current issue: great work, Anglico. Way to keep up with it. I sometimes get tired of following through on some of these issues.

Last week I was told by a local Democrat that I didn't deserve to be treated with respect at my county convention because I'm one of those "politically correct liberals." It was said just like an epithet.

However, most people treated me great and I got my resolution unanimously approved so the disrespect didn't do any harm. But I've now learned that at least some Democrats around me think that "politically correct liberals" are not only deserving of public disrespect, but I have also learned that we're the sole reason "Democrats keep losing." Nice.

So, it's not just Republicans who are angry and not afraid to be nasty about it.

News of the 10th district: See Pat Go Bye Bye,

Wow, who does that Democrat think he/she/it is?

Have they looked in the mirror out there own mealy-mouthed selves lately? Maybe if Democrats acted less like Republicans we wouldn't keep "losing"

Congratulations on your resolution passing! You go girl!

That's Funny -

I'm one of those "politically correct liberals."

Sure, you're PC like an alligator is timid.

The rez was inspired by Robert P

in support of Verla Insko's universal health care ballot initiative.

It made it through the district convention, too. I think the 11th approved something similar and maybe the 5th, too.

Although watching how little respect some legislators and "insiders" have for the YD's great grassroots initiative for one-stop voting, I have to say I don't expect much . . .

Ya know...it is a he said, he said kinda piece but it looks like the writer represented both sides in a fair, impartial way.

The age thing

came up at the end of the call. I'm not sure what triggered it, but the reporter said he thought I was 20-something. Not that it matters all that much out here on the Tubes.

From what I can tell, Brown thinks this is all some big game of "rile 'em up" or something. So much for sacred oaths to serve. If he worked in one of my companies, I'd have fired him for treating a "customer" the way he treated me.

That is a great article

I dont think the reporter thinks its the right way to do business either, but he managed to take the journalistic approach and be fair.

I liked it a lot.

"Keep the Faith"

Yes, it was a great article.

Very well written.

I think it was good that the reporter pointed out the age thing. Many people believe that the internet is the province of teens and twenties who can't put a sentence together, have cybersex, and hang out on Myspace. Apparently that's what Brown thinks.

Who is going to run against him in 2008?

Ya Commie Pinko Liberal Bee-yotch!

Well done, Anglico, and kudos to the paper for the well-written story as well.

This is how community activism, blogging, and government come together - through potshots, journalism, and the court of public opinion.

They still don't take it seriously, and that gives us even more strength.

Heh heh. :)

I love it when staunch conservatives make the mistake of assuming they're the only ones who love this country enough to put their life on the line to defend it.

Here's to you, James, and thanks.

Dropping out of helicopters aint the half............

Anglico, as you may know, has also raised two brilliant children (the younger a piano virtuos whose prowess has been known to make grown folk cry), created a loving and communal family, inspired a town to create a skatepark, encouraged many a young angry man to aspire to something (although they may never acknowledge it.............Anglico, Jeremy's young daughter Nix says "Hi"), created a virtual community that is and will continue to make waves in both the political and cultural community of NC.

At first I was fairly angry about the email/comments.........but then I thought.........well, when it really goes down, who can you actually rely on? There aren't too many people taking care of business, as far as I have seen, on any fronts, but if a NC Republican can't sign something and get a kickback I don't know who can. Its like a formula, 1) Create a bill.....2) Sign it.....3) Pretend it matters......4) Pat self on back.....5) Lie to everone and everything about it....6) Create talking points.....7) Business as usual......Really, it feels as if all political fronts are reaching at this point. My money is on the people who get it done. I've seen, personally and via the news, a lot of shit happen, and I reckon the good shit happens because good people make good shit happen. It is a simple formula, oft forgot, oft ignored, but true nontheless..........

That's my son.

I'm proud to say.

You should be proud

I'm a social worker in NYC..............you can't walk half a block without cussing up a storm........or you might never get heard, never recognized, never acknowledged........unfortunately that is how it is done here. Well, not unfortunately, just is.

No worries

Not at all. Glad to see you being fully self-expressed!

The skate park I got into place is the one at Northern Community Park off Homestead.

Antioch is going out of business?

They have such an incredible group of alumni that I find that hard to believe.

I didn't know there was a "system"

Its lack of financial resources was draining the other institutions in the Antioch University system, too.

The other five schools — Antioch McGregor, also in Yellow Springs, and schools in New Hampshire, Seattle, Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, Calif. — had been supplementing the college for 15 years.

Combined, those schools pumped $1 million annually into Antioch College's budget of $18 million.

Open invitation

to Anglico, and anyone else, who'd like to visit the FlowMoore SkatePark in Pinebluff. A non-profit held together by grit, determination, duct tape, and a lot of cuss words. (The website is out of date - check out the picture gallery though.) An associated MySpace page is here.

A fundraiser is being held on June 22. Wtestling, Thrash Music, and Skateboarding! Who could ask for anything more?? Whoo hooo!!! Anyone interested please contact me. :)

I will be there.

I support the Park. :)

I'm not a wrestling fan, nor am I a thrash music fan, but the Skaters rule :) .

The website events calendar was too much for them to keep up, that's all, they've started communicating through Myspace because most of the skaters were using it anyway.

The FlowMoore Skate park is located in an abandoned factory building that was standing dormant for over a year. I suppose I should say "reclaimed". It gives the skaters a place to be that's off the streets and sidewalks and parkinglots, gives local bands a place to play, and keeps old fogies like me working to support it because it's a good idea.

The other side of the warehouse is used by the Sandhills Theatre company to build sets and store props.

Great post, A---fucking great

The cussin' in my comment title is meant to be nothing more than gratuitous, just in cased Asswipe Larry the Lurker is checking us out. Lovex7, be very thankful you don't live in Forsyth, or, worse yet, in this muthafucka's district, like I do. He is truly a piece of garbage, and this shows it. He's the former mayor of Kernersville, and they love the guy around here, which says it all.

Can you guys please help me get a job in the Triangle so I can get the hell out of here? Anglico, I'll be your personal manservant if you're in need of one. You freaking rule, brother.

Also, speaking of good shit, Amped, have you got any?

Seriously, this guy is why everything in our political system is so screwed up, from local on up to DC. It's all a big rile 'em up joke to him, and he has nothing but hate pumping throughout his fundie body. And what really sucks is that he just brings out the worst from people like me----people who think that government should be of, by, and for the people, and not some good ol' boy scam network---and that shout out goes out to Jim Black, too, just to keep it real. I'm an Obama guy, for goodness' sake----politics should be kumbaya, not this shit.
