Another Reason to Vote Democratic

The hard right doesn’t want to govern, they want to rule. And they want to rule right now.

One of the millions of articles on the resignation of Speaker John Boehner commented that:

Boehner’s tormentors refused to accept the limits of his political power.

They refuse to accept the limits of his political power.

For them the concept of attaining goals over time has been lost. They hate Boehner because he did not stop Obama-care. He did not stop the opening of diplomatic relations with Cuba. He did not stop Wall Street reform, prevent the withdrawal of our troops from Afghanistan, prevent equal marriage, and has not prevented an agreement about Iran’s nukes from happening. Boehner didn’t keep Obama from putting 2 women on the Supreme Court (Sotomayor & Kagan), investing in renewable energy technology and worst of all, he simply did not get rid of Obama. There is still a Democrat in the White House and in their minds, it is all Boehner’s fault.

They refuse to accept the limits of his political power.

Those in the background ranting at Boehner for not shutting down the government to de-fund health care for women do not see the limits of power of their own Speaker, nor do they see the limits of power imbedded in our Constitution. They want what they want when they want it.

Or as rush Limbaugh put it:

“In the last seven years Barack Obama has successfully recruited, or corrupted, or hijacked — however you want to describe it — John Roberts of the Supreme Court; John Boehner, speaker of the House; Mitch McConnell, Republican leader in the Senate; and, some might even say, the pope…."

They do not see limitations of power. They do not see the parts of the Constitution that called upon the people to work together to create a nation. They do not believe in give and take, let alone accommodation
What we’ve seen in NC is a smaller version of what will happen if Republicans capture the White House and Congress. They see no limits to their power. None whatsoever. And they don’t recognize that as un-American.

When what used to be the Republican party partnered with the evangelical right, they wanted only their votes. But they awakened a beast they could not control. That beast has been fed on promises, nursing its hatreds, for so many years it has come to believe it should have whatever it wants. Not by working through the structure of the Republican party we all grew up with but by bending the party structure to their will. Not by working within the structures of government but by any means possible. The hard right is just plain hard.

I don’t really want to say it, but
The King is dead.

Boehner leaves to support Obama!!

You thought I was kidding! I just came across this article:

Ted Cruz Accuses John Boehner of Leaving Office
to Help President Obama

Upon the startling news that Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) is resigning October 30 (aka, fleeing from the Tea Party caucus), Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) accused the Speaker of leaving office “presumably land in a cushy K Street job after joining with the D’s to implement all of President O’s priorities”.

Democrats need to give voters an option

In 2014, there was no Democratic candidate for Congress In NC-9 in Charlotte. There were no Democratic candidates in 40+ legislative races in 2012 and 2014. There was no Democratic candidate in a NC Supreme Court race recently.

NC Demcorats need a 100 County Strategy and need to stop relying on urban voters and rural black voters to carry the day. It's not enough, especially with badly gerrymandered districts.

Dems need to give every NC voter a choice on Election Day.

Amen, Todd

Even if there's little hope of winning, we gotta be in the race. For me, this is a make-or-break test for Patsy Keever and the party elders. If they can't step up and run a competitive candidate in every single district, well, they'll have a helluva time getting people like me to continue supporting them.
