"Huge" Indictment

I haven't written in a while, and plan on getting back to it soon, but I couldn't hold this from you. According to the AP Story in the Greensboro News and Record, Hugh Webster has been indicted on two felony charges, embezzlement and exploitation of an elderly adult. Link here.

Enjoy! I'll be back writing soon. I still have a lot to say.

This is my own back yard, and I don't even want to be the one to tell my mom, who has voted for him several times in the past (I think she even met him). If he's willing to rip off his own aunt, I wonder who else he's "received gifts" from?

Thanks Jay. By the way, it was good to see you two the other night. :) Don't be a stranger, pal.

The man ain't right

Webster was one of those characters at the GA who was loads of fun to watch, but the man just ain't right. Bonkers. Nuts.

Remember the little stickers he passed out saying "if you can't feed 'em, don't breed 'em?" Nice way of looking at people.

And then there was the time he fought against a bill whose purpose was to change certain place names in North Carolina. The term "nigger hollow" stands out in memory. Webster said we were destroying our cultural history by making those changes -- and may have been the lone dissenting vote. Now, I have a certain sympathy with the idea that we shouldn't go burying historical legacies, but to my mind, "nigger hollow" staying on the books would be akin to leaving up signs designating white and black drinking fountains. I guess Hugh's dedication to cultural preservation was just very, very . . . profound.

Hey Jay

good to see you out and about. Hope to read more from you.

No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.

Progressive Discussions

Here's more on the story...

From the Dome:

Webster, who says he's innocent, turned himself in to Caswell County sheriff’s deputies and was released on an unsecured bond, the Associated Press reports. His next court date is Dec. 9.

The 65-year-old Webster was indicted on charges of embezzlement and exploitation. Prosecutors allege he was entrusted by his 80-year-old aunt to manage her financial affairs, but the account was converted to his own personal use.

Tony Rand and Roy Cooper

are behind it. You didn't know that? Hugh Webster is sooo powerful and important that they are trying to bring him down politically. I don't think he knows yet that he lost his last two elections.

That's all right

Hardly anyone knew he was running.
