Lobbyists Bankroll Charles Taylor Advertisement

Congressman Charles Taylor's first television ad of the political season (Watch it HERE) is brought to NC's eleventh district by the United States Chamber of Commerce. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is: "the world's largest not-for-profit business federation...The Chamber is staffed with policy specialists, lobbyists and lawyers. It is known for spending more money than any other lobbying organization on a yearly basis." - Wikipedia

The United States Chamber of Commerce is a non-governmental organization whose aims include:

"George W. Bush's immigration reform plan
Pro-Energy Source Diversity
Pro-ANWR Drilling
Pro-Offshore Oil Drilling
Pro-Nuclear Power
Pro-Health Savings Accounts
Pro-international free trade
Against most forms of tax on business
Anti-Minimum Wage
Anti-Net Neutrality"

The United States Chamber of Commerce group is the face of globalization. Their stated aims are in opposition to labor unions, workers' protection groups, and the health of the natural environment worldwide. The agenda is designed to fuel an economic boom for the very rich to exploit the very poor.

If these stances sound familiar, it might be because you've heard them all from the Bush administration. The United States Chamber of Commerce is led by Tom J. Donohue, who "serves on three corporate boards of directors. In addition, he is a member of the President's Council on the 21st Century Workforce as well as the President's Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations."

Unlike the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's radio ad for Taylor's opponent Democrat Heath Shuler, the funding for Taylor's TV ad buy came from a private lobbying group's PAC. Donohue's organization promotes a globalization future, and they can count on Charles Taylor to let it happen. The incumbent's unwillingness to lead on issues he publicly opposes are on display in his CAFTA vote problem.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce thinks it can buy this election for Charles Taylor. In return they'll get the allegiance of a man who the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics (CREW) calls one the thirteen most corrupt members of Congress.

Two points...

He had to rely on lobbyists to run ads for him because he has no credibility left.

The second is one Momoaizo made. What incredibly poor timing for the ads. Newspapers are just running stories about the number of people reaching the gap of no coverage in the Med Part D. Now, at least when they can't afford their meds, they know who to blame. It's like they're doing Heath's job for him!

GOP Donut Hole Timing - Duh!

What were they thinking? Just when the GOP's numbers couldn't get any worse, they're about to smack millions of Seniors with the Donut Hole. Any Taylor's running an ad bragging about it? What a bunch of maroons!

It's good for us though. The Shuler campaign can now respond with an ad listing all of Charlie's pharmaceutical PAC money.

I think we need to come up with something

a little more annoying than the "doughnut hole". How about deductible trap. Part D deductible trap. I'm going to try that to see how it flows.

de-duct-i-ble.

Too many syllables -- and letters -- for my intellect.

Can you find a shorter first word for me?
donut trap.
sink hole.
money hole.
quick sand.
rip current.
red hole.
black hole.
black abyss.
bottomless pit.
GOP pit.
GOP trap.
GOP hole.
GOP abyss.
GOP donut.

"They took all the trees and put them in a tree museum Then they charged the people a dollar 'n a half just to see 'em. Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got till it's gone? They paved paradise and put up a parking lot."

Leslie H...I've got it!

Part D Poorhouse Provision.....how's that for alliteration!

done!

What an ad. I can see many seniors buying into Taylors hype. Now if only they understood his stance on unviersal health care.

Be just, and fear not.

Our children need to know that some people fought back, when others collaborated.

"We NEED this guy in office!"

"His opponent would probably work for the goddamn constituents, and where the hell will be be then?"
