E.J. Dionne Jr. is not afraid. Much of the mainstream media is afraid, so afraid that they have buttoned their lips. Sound familiar, because to me it sounds like the same Republican media machine that quieted the press about the illegitimate, illegal buildup to Iraq. So, who is Sarah Palin anyways?
She's a Christian, who thinks that Creationism should be taught in your child's science class.
She's a pro-birth supporter, who thinks your medical decisions should be in the hands of the government.
She's a Mayor, whose first act was to fire a librarian that wouldn't ban books she found offensive.
She's a neoconservative, who received over $27 MILLION in earmarks for an Alaskan town smaller than 95 North Carolina towns and which had only TWO more people in it than Hillsborough, NC.
She's a Governor, who used her Executive powers to fire a state trooper over a family squabble.
She's a hunter, who opposed measures to keep the polar bear from extinction.
She's worked in the oil industry, and doesn't believe in Global warming.
She's the parent of pregnant teen, who as Governor cut funds for pregnant teens less fortunate than her own.
She's one step behind an aged man with cancer from being President, but she is hiding behind John McCain's back for fear of answering tough questions about her politics and his past history.
It is time for Sarah Palin to put up or shut up. Enough one-liners to friendly crowds. If the American Presidency simply required a woman who could toss out zingers, then Paula Poundstone would have been picked for VP a long time ago.
Instead, it's time for us to hear her bark, instead of her bite. Let's hear her explain again how Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac "have gotten too big and too expensive to the taxpayers." When, of course, they've never cost us anything - even now they haven't cost us because they haven't drawn on the federal money provided to them.
Let's hear her explain why she called Hillary a whiner, but at the same time she is hiding behind someone else and complaining about the big, bad, meanies in the news networks.
Let's hear her explain how she was for the Bridge to Nowhere, even using it as a campaign issue, before she was against it. Oh, and did you know she was against it because the feds took the money away and she was deciding whether to build it with Alaskan money? Remember that line, 'if we want a bridge we'll build it ourselves'? I guess they didn't want the bridge.
She's not right for North Carolina. She's not right for America.

McCain leads Obama among likely U.S. voters by 46 percent to 41

The polls are not accurate
They are only polling people who have land lines. What segment of society mostly uses cell phones exclusively and will most likely be voting Democratic in huge numbers? The young and they are not being polled.
Have you ever heard of a liberal shooting up a church?
I'm not buying it.
We said that in 2004. They say this is taken into account when they analyze their data. Either way, I am not going to sit back and be comfortable anymore. I'm going to assume we are losing and go from there.

Conspiracy Theory McCain Palin 101 by Max?
The polls are not accurate* TrueMeckDem
You got that right! There is noway that the Republicans have seize the moment in that short period of time. What you are seeing is a massive disinformation program by the Political mainstream media and the Neo-Con political religious right by puffing the poll numbers up until November. I truly believe the Rat Bastards will screw with the voting machines big time and claim the Day. If that happens, I can assure you that this country will be in full revolution. The Neo-Cons are evil and nothing is above what they will do to stay in power.
Palin is sure that God supports oil.

These are all great points
and will keep us Democrats from fleeing to the McCain camp. But our great HOPE this election was that we were going to convince a bunch of Independents and centrist Republicans not to vote for McCain.
Let's get back to popping those suckers off the back of the Palin bandwagon. Here's a great conversation starter/ender:
(from an article by Michael Kinsley in Time.)
We've got to stop thinking that the people we are talking to HAVE ANY SENSE AT ALL of the environment, equality, or fair economics. THEY DO NOT.
In fact, conservatives love to hear us talk about our issues
because they know that it makes their voters stonewall their own brains every time they hear the words "choice" or "climate change" or "community organizer" or "social programs".
"Alaska is a giant welfare state. Sucking tax dollars from the lower 48."
It rhymes. It's moronic. Use it.
That is a great point.
They get their tax revenue almost exclusively from oil companies. The same oil companies that make 10s of billions of dollars while taking government subsidies. Do we really think oil companies are eating those costs? No, they are giving money to alaska and tacking it on to our gasoline costs.
Alaska's tax policy is to bill us for their needs.

Palin
Much as I detest Sarah Palin, I urge people to read the FactCheck.org material on her. Some of the negative publicity about her is not true.
Palin
Much of the positive publicity about her is not true.
see the analysis of polls on the Huffington post
I read on kos that these recent upticks for McCain coincide with a sudden increase in Republicans in the samples? Not enough to account for his entire rise in the polls, but about half. And the other half would be expected after his convention.
gotta watch those tricky polls...and remember that the voter registration nationwide is pretty big in favor of Dems.
And if you are still anxious, angry or sad, just go to work. There is a ton of work to do that will make you feel like you are part of the solution. Work for change.
Go to the Obama HQ or the local Dems office. Or contact Larry Kissell For Congress. or Hagan, Perdue.Just get to work registering everyone at work. Everyone on your block. everyone you see at the mall
