Our wonderful rising star of the GOP recently illustrated just how much of an ass he is this Saturday when he voted against a Democratic Energy Conservation bill.
Enclosed in the bill was a provision granting a tax break, yes a tax break, for bicycle commuters, to the tune of $20 a month.
McHenry declared:
Ladies and gentlemen, I bring you the Democrats, promoting 19th century solutions to 21st century problems. If you don't like it, ride a bike. If you don't like the price at the pumps, ride a bike.
While McHenry may believe that the only people that bike to work are whacked out hippies and tree-hugging leftees, he seems to forget that there are a lot of disadvantaged folks pedaling to work who might could buy a car if they were able to save a little money with a $20/month tax break!!
What a jerk.
Anyhow, here is the link

Oh...I would love to have video of that.
Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

Vote Democratic! The ass you save may be your own.
You don't even have to see it.
Can't you just hear the pompous ass saying it, with that wierd little speech impediment thing he has going? (At least when I imitate him, he does. I'll do it for you sometime. We'll have to meet for coffee or drinks or something.)

the video is up
McHenry is proud of it...so proud he posted the video.
Yeah the Portland (Oregon) bikers
are enraged about it. They've been hitting on Pat Go Bye Bye all week. I kept meaning to do another post on this stuff but so much is happening!
Here's the post at Bike Portland dot org.
Thanks for the post, bculbre!
Here's the full text.

Here's the photo that really pissed them off
McHenry used it as a display when he spoke!
News of the 10th district: See Pat Go Bye Bye,
Indeed, Mr. McHenry,
Riding a bike would conserve quite a bit of energy, reduce environmental pollutants, and probably reduce the incidence of road rage.
In fact, my next major purchase will be a bicycle with which I shall ride 10 miles to and from my office. I'll save fuel, spare the environment some damage, and cut about 20 minutes off my 45 minute commute. This doesn't include the reduction in my health-care costs from increased exercise and reduced fast food (apparently, McDonald's doesn't have a bike through!).
So, I suppose what I'm saying is...Stick it in your ear you diminutive little twit. If you're so short-sighted that you can't see that the benefits vastly outweigh the cost in a $20 a month tax cut, you should step down from Congress.
