I regret to inform the world that I agree completely with a new column by Rick Martinez. That doesn't mean I don't want to see him fired from the N&O. I do. The N&O has entirely too much infiltration from Art Pope's Puppetshow. But I have to say that I share Martinez' unhappy view of the so-called energy bill sliming its way through the General Assembly.

Working on a piece to coincide with the DCCC Kissell fundraiser today/tonight. It will be later in the day, but I'll send out notices via email and post here to give you a headsup closer to the time. Oh, and anyone who wants to post on Kissell to raise money so that it is matched 2:1 needs to link to his OLD ActBlue account. I'll try to get that link handy. If it goes to the new account it will not be matched.

Help Request: Fred Smith BBQ

Fred Smith keeps talking about this 100 county BBQ thing he is going to do as part of his campaign for governor. Has anybody heard of him actually doing one of these BBQs? Does anyone know if any have been scheduled? Anyone want to take bets on how many counties he actually bothers to go to?

is a current member of the Durham City Council and is running for mayor against our current maor, Bill Bell. Stith has raised more than $50,000 for the campaign, mainly from developers. Bell has raised about $500.

is not as blind as the Republicans in Congress. Thank goodness they passed NC KIDS CARE. Once again, NC takes a progressive step before the country as a whole does. We raised our minimum wage before the feds did, and we raised eligibility for children's health insurance before they did.
