Never Buy From Overstock.com

No political content here, but I wanted to get back at Overstock a little for their horrible costumer service and products.

I bought a computer from them. Within three months, it was not working. They would not accept a return of the product. I called the tech support who was completely unhelpful and would not give a service company to physically take my computer in to. I had to contact Overstock 15-20 times (many times talking to someone in India without a clue of the company or how to help me) and threaten to sue to get them to get the service company to allow me to send in my computer for repair. When the computer got back weeks later, it was missing an operating system and cannot run anything. I would call them again but am worried that it would be more hassle.

I actually filed a complaint with the attorney general a couple of weeks ago. In response the company claimed that I was not answering my phone when they called, but they were trying to contact me to help me. Interesting since my phone has caller ID and I can see that they never called. They have put me through crap, and I hope that anyone reading this will not purchase anything from them.

BTW. I checked their site on the Better Business Bureau and they had over 2,000 complaints lodged against them.

Lesson Learned

Always do your homework BEFORE you purchase from an e-business. Bricks-and-mortar businesses have physical stores where you can shop face to face unlike dot com businesses that obviously don't, and obtaining support can result in horror stories like this one. The Better Business Bureau is not perfect but it's a start.

http://www.bbb.org/ is the official search site.
http://www.bbbonline.org is where consumers can search for participating companies.

Hope your PC is working, now.

Not working yet

We will give it one more try tonight.

i bought a palm off them

one morning the screen was blown. i sent it to the "warranty" company and it came back that they wouldn't cover it because I must have smashed the screen. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah. That's me.
I posted negative reviews on every related product on their site and sent emails to everyone I knew

Jesus Swept ticked me off. Too short. I loved the characters and then POOF it was over.
-me

Wow

I had no idea. I get their emails. I'll take myself off their list.

Vote Democratic! The ass you save may be your own.

I feel your pain

that sucks. Do we need a computer lemon law? Or does that make me a typical Democrat always thinking of a new law when really we need enforcement of the existing ones. Roy Cooper could make a lot of people happy if he spent a little time on consumer law enforcement. Of course, that might make a lot of other people unhappy . . .
