Republicans for Larry Kissell

I'd like for all of us to take a moment to think about a phenomenon going on in the 8th District. It's illustrated by this photograph posted to the right. If you look closely, you'll notice that along with the two Kissell signs on the truck is the trademark oval "W" sticker proudly displayed by supporters of President Bush.

Yes, there are Republicans supporting Larry Kissell.

No, they haven't "seen the light". They aren't giving up their conservative ideology. They do not want to stand under the big tent. The "End Times" have not arrived. Hell has not frozen over.

The fact is there are many conservatives who believe that character counts. They see in Larry Kissell the same qualities we see. They like them as much as we do.

Some of them have more in commmon with Larry than we do. They are from the same background. The are cut from the same cloth. They've walked the same paths.

I'm not chiding anyone here to watch what they say. I've spewed as much venom at Bush and the Republicans in Washington as the next person.

We simply need to keep in mind that there are folks on the other side of the aisle who want to send the best man or woman to Washington. They want a representative who undertands what it's like to walk in their shoes. For many Republicans in the 8th District Larry Kissell is the man who can understand their perspective and take their voice to Washington.

If you've read much of what I've written about Larry Kissell, you might remember that I often call Larry an 8th District Democrat. For some voters it won't be the Democrat part of the label that's important.

Next time you feel the need to go off on President Bush or Republicans in general, keep in mind that one of those Republicans may very well cast the winning vote for Larry.

Cuts both ways

A Republican may very well be the person who casts the winning vote for Larry, but he or she might also have been the person who cast the winning vote for George Bush. And anybody who voted for George Bush in 2004 should be embarrassed.

That said, I get your point.

Yes....I figure I had the good sense to be embarrassed

when Bill was caught getting his wanker twiddled by the chick in the blue dress under his desk in the oval office. :)

Werewolves for Larry Kissell

Republicans aren't the only strange creatures who are starting to support Larry Kissell. Werewolves are supporting him too! I've raised over $400 for his brilliantly run campaign. Best of luck to all of you who are helping him out!

Very cool, Neil!

We like werewolves for Kissell!

Very cool, indeed!

Nice writeup on Kissell, as well, Neil. WTG!

Unrelated: auto-logout bug persists

I worked on this for a long time yesterday, but the problem remains (site session cookie only lasts until the browser is closed). I'm calling in some help. On the other hand, we now have these fancy and search-engine-friendly URLs (look at your location bar).

Not just on browser close

I get logged out when I go to a different site in the same tab (firefox.)

Kissel sign

My Kissell sign was bent, and the top part was in the storm drain across the street when I got home Saturday night. There's no way the wind did that. I had it buried deep. Well, I fished it out of the storm drain, cleaned it off, straightened the frame and it is back up. It doesn't look as good as it did, but I don't care. It's back up. EVIL people. I read Jay's blog a little while ago and he said the same thing is happening in Greensboro. The repubs seem to think it is fair to do that. Desperation at work.

Last year in SC...

My Kerry/Edwards sign was torn off the stand and disappeared. I got a piece of cardboard and wrote with a marker - You can steal my sign, but you won't steal my vote!" Then something like Proud Democrat or something. I eventually got my sign back.

CountryCrats - my thoughts, my blog.

Jesus Swept ticked me off. Too short. I loved the characters and then POOF it was over.

Met a really nice older couple

Saturday night. I asked who their congressperson was. The gentleman (89 years old) said, "We don't have one" and paused. Then he said, "There is an old woman who hangs out in Washington and claims to be a congressperson, but she is terrible. Her name is Virginia Foxx." You know, I made a fast friend right then and there.

I love that story!

Kissell's won the vote...

...of a two time Bush voter who visited our business the other day. He remarked about the Roger Sharpe info we have on the counter then the conversation turned to his district. Wow, he is thoroughly disgusted, loathes Hayes and can't wait to vote for Larry. I even gave him info for his college son to vote absentee. So, there you go.

Stan....that's music to my ears

Early voting numbers look great and now the polls are showing that all the negative ads placed by Hayes haven't helped him and have barely touched Larry.

Thank you and Nan for working from a distance to help Larry. By the time we get to 2008 our teamwork will be formidable. Thanks for joining in here and leading the way in other areas.
