Going Offline - Success!

I think, anyway. As always, let me know if you experience any difficulties.

We're going offline

While I try to move us from one server to another with all of the skill and technical knowledge that BAs in Philosophy and Math can provide. :)

Good luck!

Bellsouth isn't letting me unpack boxes

They still haven't updated their DNS cache since before midnight last night, meaning that I'm still seeing the impatient dolly when I'm logged out. C'mon, Bellsouth, why so slooooow?

YAY!!

Very nice, Lance. Thank you.

My own comments show up as "new"

in tracking after I post them. No big deal, just different and a little confuzzling.

Bellsouth has -- just now -- updated their DNS info

You'd think such a large ISP could swing updates more frequent than every 24 hours!

Other than one login problem, things seem to be rolling along smoothly. Any problems?

Robert,

This is a setting on the server's PHP install, I think. This is going to be low priority for me over the next couple of days, but don't let me get to this time next week without reminding me to look into it.

Just had my daughter try to look at an article here

She's in Charlotte and still can't get in. Still says we're hermit crabs changing our salty digs....

No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.

I just got in a half hour ago.

You're a very brave man, Lance.

This whole thing is about DNS tables

There's a place out there on the web where strings like "bluenc.com" are turned into the ip information necessary to pull up a site. To save time and trouble, internet service providers make copies of these places (domain name server tables, or DNS for short) and use those, refreshing them every once in a while. I don't see why they aren't refreshed more often, but everyone should be back by tomorrow. I'm not exactly sure how the big dogs handle things like this.

I was in early today, then out and back in a while ago

I don't know what was going on, but was dealing with quite the mess here at the Muse residence, so it was OK.

OT - but are you really moving to the 10th?

We need to plot for the future. ;)

Ayup

Property is off 73. Three acres of deciduous forest. It will probably be another year before the house is finished and we move. It's in East Lincoln.
